Re: New Minecraft world format

I'm hoping the other improvements manage to counterbalance the block ID's and increased height. Only way to find out is to wait for the snapshot...

Since I didn't see this mentioned yet: https://twitter.com/#!/jeb_/status/169417519600386048 Fitting as it is Valentine's Day? So... now the guessing game on what triggers that particular behavior of theirs. Perhaps Diamonds as FlowerChild brought up in a previous discussion of possibilities? In the...

Re: New Minecraft world format

Whatever Mojang does, it still avoids mod updates being delayed by waiting on an API to update after a Minecraft update... because it outright skips the middle step. It simply cannot, by its nature, have one of the problems FlowerChild had with Forge, and that is causing the gap between Minecraft up...

Re: New Minecraft world format

Although the additional block space may be welcome, as well as the vertical limit increase, its concerning to see that the mods these changes are based upon are currently using the Forge. Keywords there are "based upon." 1. It's nonsensical to think that Minecraft will in any way require ...

Re: Minecraft inspired RTS

I don't recall them saying at any point that they were inspired by Minecraft. And if we're going to start guessing at their inspirations, Dwarf Fortress is infinitely more likely to be their primary inspiration as it's the same exact genre as Castle Story. I'm reluctant to call Dwarf Fortress style ...

Re: Question about wolf breeding in the pre-releases

I could have swore reading about them fixing the behavior so that they will be healed as they were previously and only go into "love mode" when fully healed. I don't recall if that's for the latest prerelease or if I heard that was planned for or what, unfortunately. I haven't bothered wit...

Making multiple portals is buggy to say the least unless any new portals made are made from the Nether side of things.

Re: Eureka!

Can't wait for an update now :D. I'm thinking I may *eventually* (definitely not for this release) add the ability to start fires with the Lens using the sun, but that won't exactly help you grow Hemp :) I'm surprised nobodys thought about the idea of Archimede's Death Ray. That was going to be my ...

Re: So... Notch is funding Psychonauts 2...

Er, Tim Schafer has nothing to do with Planescape: Torment. That's Chris Avellone. It was Tim Schafer's kickstarter for a point and click adventure game that has Chris Avellone considering doing one for a Planescape sequel. Also, Notch funding Psychonauts 2 hasn't panned out, at least for now. He's ...

Help grow hemp... maybe not. Set up light perimeter in underground base to torch enemies... maybe. Plus, if you're still having trouble growing Hemp by the time you hit the New Age in the tech tree...well, I just don't know what to say :) Just covering the bases on the uses the light has and how mu...

Can these light beams be used to reflect sunlight or light block light to hemp and allow it to grow that way?

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Some people inevitably will. The better question is if and when Mojang will add an incentive for the rest of the players to attempt to preserve them. They claim they want to add some depth to them, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: TTWTTTTT BTW Thread

Personally I think removing charcoal from torches is unnecessary if you remove it from smelting. Players will be trying to find all the coal they can already in order to get enough iron. Especially considering how much iron you're requiring. Also, requiring three different kinds of logs? As FlowerCh...

Re: FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Purism is a very good policy with mods unless you are very determined and have a very clear idea of what mods you want, and then it requires a lot of cross-referencing to be sure of compatibility. I learned enough of that just from Oblivion, and of course Minecraft is even worse on that front. What ...

Re: Texture packs And why you like them

HD texture packs can look good on two conditions: The items are either cartoony or NOT "photo-realistic", and the terrain still retains the blocky feel. Sphax PureBDcraft or however you spell all that tends to look rather nice because it chooses to be stylistic. You'd think more texture pa...

Re: MC map-size reduction tool?

After the breeding changes, the animals did indeed become tied to the seeds. When a chunk is first loaded, it checks to see what passive mobs should spawn there, if any, and does so. Later random spawns aren't tied to the seed, but the guaranteed passive mobs you get are. If you don't believe me, tr...
