Re: How to control the future

Yep, it's a very elegant explanation, and I admit that many-worlds is one of the few attempts at explaining wavefunction collapse that strikes me as logically sound. BUT -- you should add the caveat that while this is a neat and logical explanation, we don't actually have any evidence that it's the...

Try out Anki. It's basically a flashcard program which helps a ton with vocabulary. http://ankisrs.net/ . You can make your own decks or use decks that other people made. This. Anki has probably been the single most useful tool I've used in my own language studies. And I do see some premade Korean ...

Re: How to control the future

Oh, we brought quantum mechanics onto table! Then here's a brain teaser: how can you observe only one state of the system, when you are the part of the quantum system yourselves? And with that, I once again return us to the many-worlds interpretation! Because it explains wavefunction collapse with ...

Re: Anyone here into Lua?

An embedded scripting language like Lua is a neat concept. Certainly easier than writing your own scripting language and parser in C++.

The most fun I've ever had though was Ruby.

Code: Select all

array = [0, 1, 2, 3]

array.each do |x|
    puts x
end
Ruby, where lambdas are a beginner concept. <3

Re: How to control the future

See, this is why I love the many-worlds interpretation. The future is set in stone, so long as you're talking about the future of the totality of all universes.

Everything will happen. Guaranteed.™

Firstly, there is a slight, but hugely significant, difference between perpetual motion and a perpetual motion machine (the latter being the topic of discussion). Okay, I just literally spent the last half hour trying to find the best way to say pretty much exactly this in a paragraph or so, and yo...

This was the tutorial series I used when I was getting into KSP, and I absolutely loved it: Oh yeah, I think that's what I started with back when I first played. I only did the first one though; I will go and check out the rest in the series! Action groups are the second tab at the top, just pick a...

Resources needed for a noob to KSP

I played Kerbal Space Program a little bit when I bought it a couple of months ago. I did the in-game tutorials and polluted the equatorial belt with a couple of Stayputniks, but I had trouble really getting into the game and decided to wait for the Campaign. Then FC came out with BTSM. I figured ha...

It's an ARG.

As the story progressed beyond the point in that story, people were able to affect the outcome of future videos through e.g. video responses with ocarina songs.

Figured Turtling might be part of the plan. Unfortunately I suck at balancing the use of health potions and turtles. Even with turtling the swarm at the gate still kills me. I didn't use any health potions there, only Turtle potions. Do be careful about drinking one when you haven't turned back to ...

Because the Hare didn't have a nice turtle shell to protect him when a thousand guards came and attacked with swords.

Hopefully this isn't hijacking the thread at all, but I finally have gotten to a point in my game where I have a small chicken coop and small hemp/pumpkin farm. My question is concerning food - aren't recipes like the mushroom omelet redundant and, in fact, pointless? The ability to eat a fried egg...

Re: In need of some redstone/mechanical help (Tree Farm)

Ah man, tree farms. Sand pusher tree farms are a really fun thing to make. I don't think they're quite worth making any more in survival (Blood Wood is probably the only thing you can reasonably farm any more, and it doesn't need a sand pusher), but they're still fun. I can tell you that the current...

Building shelter? You've already done that! The place where I spend my first night is, without exception , the place where I mined my first two cobble. In fact, nearly every single one of my bases in my current world began as the place where I mined for my first axe after a respawn. I keep hunting u...

What I find sad is that it would not surprise me in the least if they gave the arrow keys full control over Minecarts. I can just picture it now. Powered rails would fail into obscurity as a tool only needed for unmanned carts. And there would be one-block 4-way intersections where you would just ho...

I have the answer guys: Magic. What? It's not like magic doesn't exist in-universe and is thus a completely plausible theory. Magic is a totally plausible theory for the real world, too. For any world, really. Which is why it isn't a very interesting theory. Science, on the other hand, progresses i...
