Re: Base Showcase and Basebuilding Tips
Well my base isn't much but here it is. I'm pretty proud of it as it's my first post AAAHHHH windmill. Still haven't gotten redstone or diamonds yet. Re: Base Showcase and Basebuilding Tips
I hadn't thought of it that way with regards to having a place for more focused conversation. This very much. Since I've gotten back into the game I've joined the discord for the first time. However making a post like the above just doesn't feel worthwhile on discord when it will just flow away so ...

Re: Experiences of a long time player returning
I think I'm just hoping for cauldron cooking and permanent lighting. Crucible would be great but I can wait. OTOH I need a ton more iron for a caudron anyway and I need mechanical power and a saw for premanent lighting anyway so maybe I should be a lot less focused on diamonds. I didn't even conside...

Re: Experiences of a long time player returning
Oh yeah! Creeper mining is super valuable. Acquiring dirt even with a stone shovel is a huge pain. You can easily manage a half stack of dirt slabs in the morning. Ugly as hell though. I think the risk/reward comment is on point. I tend to get more aggressive once I have an iron pick for some reason...

Experiences of a long time player returning
So a few years ago I tried to do a post AAAAHHHHH play through that ended in a death spiral. I'm pretty sure that game is unrecoverable without cheating. That pretty effectively put me off the game for a long time. With the idea of the mod being open sourced I got a little excited about the idea of ...

Ah, fair enough. I was not aware of those, because yes, I also do want this to apply to the source code. I'll read that over later on, but suffice to say I'll be going with the most permissive license, with attribution. Not to get all up in your business but based on what I think you're trying to a...

Wow! This is big news. I wasn't party to anything that went down recently so I'm pretty sure none of that apology was directed at me. Although some of the conflicts we had long ago pushed me to be less engaged with the community hearing your descriptions here make some of what happened make more sen...

Re: Corrupted world
For windows you could write a very simple a powershell script that you just use to start minecraft. All it would do is make a copy of the save folder and then start the minecraft launcher. Then you would just run the script to start instead of the launcher directly.

Everytime you makes these kind of dramatic early game changes I feel like I have to restart. I guess that's for the best since my last world is hosed after my nighttime death spiral. To the Animageddon!

Post death death spirals not super fun
So I died finally. I got cocky and ran out of my hole a little too early and there were two spiders and a spider jockey. Anyway... So new day. I get some wood and stone and kill a few sheep. I notice it's getting dark and I start digging a hole. I get in the hole and then I see gloom. Crap. New moon...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.ABCFAFBFC) - NO SPOILERS
I think in some ways I genuinely surprised myself that I had arrived at a point that I considered to be too challenging, after all these years of never finding it quite hard enough. For awhile there I think I was a tad confused how to react to that, and even reluctant to admit to myself that it was...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.ABCFAFBFC) - NO SPOILERS
Yeah like I said got a bit frustrated. There's also the fact that there's so many awesome games to play right now. Plus I got a new job at a startup so I've been working more than I have in my life. Many factors. The biggest thing with resolving my frustration (I know you tuned some of the early gam...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.ABCFAFBFC) - NO SPOILERS
Got a little frustrated after dying so many times after the big change so took a break. Recently I decided to give it another go and focus on just not dying. Taking my time to be safe and grabbing a bit of progress here and there. I finally got to my first iron tools and I can't describe how happy I...

BTW is tue ultimate horror that never really shows antagonist. Jump scares and building tension are everywhere and there are after all no mirrors.
EDIT: Sorry just noticed you said films.

For anyone wanting to play it I strongly reccommend going in blind. The discovery element is one of the best in any game I've played.

Re: Fat is non-obvious in use
No I think there's some real value there protecting you from the ending up in a state of hunger unexpectedly during high intensity activity (like fighting monsters in caves) where you may not have the luxury of stuffing food in your mouth.

Re: Fat is non-obvious in use
AFAIK you never want to store fat early game. It always represents waste. I would say that you might find storing fat to be of some value once you've reached the cauldron and sustainable food. At that point some fat reserves can serve as a buffer to keep you from hitting Hungry so easily.
