Re: Don't Starve - initial thoughts and opinions

So after hearing about all the awesome new features that Don't Starve seems to have developed since my last session with it I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately the steam client seems to keep failing to update after somewhere between one to eight thousand kilobytes, saying something about nee...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.69)

BTW 4.68: 16-22 fps BTW 4.69: 15-22 fps Not very conclusive. If there was a slight drop in fps, I'm going to go ahead and guess that it was the fixes for fluids, which I would rather have fixed and slower than bugged and faster. Wrong. If it's possible, this version seems even a bit more mind-blowin...

This game was actually surprisingly fun and immersive. I can't wait until it gets further along in its development.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

I really hope they add a save-folder-switching feature so that each version folder would get its own save folder, but I'm kind of suspecting they won't. Currently I use a different ".minecraft" folder for every mod/version I play, which has the bonus of keeping all my save files separate ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

As long as they don't makes it easy to load the same save game with multiple jars... Actually, if I am reading this correctly then that is exactly what it will do. If Mojang compartmentalizes the core game files, I don't see a real reason why they would put in the effort to also compartmentalize th...

Re: Questions about possible windmill aesthetics mod.

Based of the Finer than Wolves thread, it looks like what you would have to do is create a new class that extends the class of FC's that renders the windmill and, in this class, overwrite his render model for the windmill. This would not be overly difficult, but it would still likely take you some t...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.68)

FPS statistics on my ancient, and very much low-end, laptop: Vanilla 1.4.7: 6-10 fps Vanilla 1.5.1: 6-8 fps (I was surprised the apparent "optimizations" did nothing) Better than Wolves 4.65: 6-9 fps Better than Wolves 4.66: 7-9 fps Better than Wolves 4.67: 7-10 fps Better than Wolves 4.68...

Re: I had a nightmare ...

Yes, I also feel that the Better than Wolves community is one of the strongest mod communities I have ever seen. It really does add to the Better than Wolves experience. I think it remains like this for two primary reasons. First, unlike most modders, FC is extremely active in his mod's community. I...

Re: Long Distance Move for a Grinder

I just wanted to confirm what DNoved1 is saying about slimes. I just actually tested it, and I was totally wrong. Disregard what I said before. Slimes can spawn at any time of day given the correct light level and special slime chunks are important only below y=40.

Yeah, I'm with Shengji on this one about ignoring it. At a personal level, I've had more than my fill of drama with regards to ownership of BTW, and really don't need the distraction of getting pissed off about something this trivial/lame. I'm also pretty sure this one has been mentioned in the pas...

Re: What on earth is the "Better than Wolves App"?

The app is just a quiz. I would not pay 2$ for it. So, in other words, a scam that appears to be profiting from the name of 'Better than Wolves' and screenshots of Minecraft. Great. Just curious, but did you actually buy the app, or did you find the customer reviews (which were ironically hidden on...

Re: Chicks dying in water

I also experienced this issue once. It is indeed a vanilla problem. It has to do with the fact that all mobs can drown given enough time (except the squid, obviously) and the fact that mobs will only attempt to float if the water is at least two blocks deep. I have always assumed that the baby anima...

Information was incorrect/outdated. See DNoved's post below, who seems to be infinitely more knowledgeable on this matter.

Re: What on earth is the "Better than Wolves App"?

All that and just a 1.9MB install? I'm seriously impressed. Seriously though, if this isn't a scam, then I don't know what is... Agreed; this looks to be a scam. If that is so, it's interesting that BTW now has scam artists who claim (looking at the screenshots) to be providing BTW for Minecraft PE.

What on earth is the "Better than Wolves App"?

So, today I was bored and decided to, for some reason, search for 'better than wolves' in the app store on my iPhone. As I sat waiting for the return, I thought to myself, "Why did I search that; there's no way anything relevant will come up." I guess I was wrong. Two results came up, one ...

Re: Questions about possible windmill aesthetics mod.

Well, this addon does not sound like something that would be overly difficult to do, though I am not very much familiar with the way non-block textures (such as those of the windmill) are loaded. It really depends on how quickly/well you learn basic Java (since you have no programming experience). M...

Re: Easily install your mods with the MC Patcher

True. I HAVE been using smart moving, and still can, but I think SmartMoving with MCPatcher with BTW is just impossible now, which is cool because 1.5.1 has built-in HD and animations support. Besides enabling HD support, there's not really anything in MCPatcher that I care about; just some things ...

I am experiencing definite improvement. I am on an ancient laptop with graphics set to fast, smooth lighting at maximum, maximum fps in effect, and OpenGL off. Normally I get about 7-9 fps. I am now getting 16-21 fps. Even better, chunk loading in both the Nether and the Overworld appears to be much...

Nice job, sir. I have been looking for something like this since the announcement of the changes to the way Minecraft handles animations. I've always been partial to the default textures... P.S.- Had to laugh at both the Don't Readme and the Readme ;) I'm almost tempted to send you an E-mail now. Ed...
