Re: How Minecraft has changed me as a gamer

For me, it started with UnReal World. It's a roguelike based in the iron age in Finland. Your only goal is survival, and your biggest threat is time and the environment. You see, Winter is coming. And it would take you most of autumn just to chop down enough tree's for a cabin, let alone build it. A...

Re: Progession of Automation

i find that i consistently use my first block dispenser to make this soul-urn bottler. http://i.imgur.com/GEM8W.png once i've done that, i start worrying about the rest of the process for soul urns. it's only once i have an abundance of soul urns (at least a stack) that i even consider any other for...

lol BinoAl: P.S. We sincerely apologize to all Platypus enthusiasts out there who are offended by that thoughtless comment about the Platypi. We at the BTW Forums respect the noble Platypus, and it is not our intention to slight these stupid creatures in any way. Have a great night FC. I'm doing muc...

Re: Games for a better world

If you are going to do a farming game with actual resources, I highly suggest you look into permaculture. hehe, yeh pretty much the fact that I know about permaculture is the only reason i'd consider making a farming game. i would try to add some aquaculture into it though. nothing fertilizes like ...

Re: Games for a better world

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I starting to realise that I'm not as optimistic as i once thought :S I completely agree that the idea's I put forth are only a glimpse of what the first step towards games that actually make the world better are, but i do feel there is more value to them than...

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.61)

It wouldn't make sense that water destroys water source block. Or I'm missing something in basic water properties... ^^ And suggesting something about a brand new addition to the mod in the release thread isn't always a good idea ;-) (like, probably never) hehe yeh, i didn't think about the way i w...

Re: Games for a better world

fair call raust. i did think quite a bit before i hit that post button. in part, i know i'm slightly guilty, mainly because of the invested effort in writing the post. just saving it to a notepad file didn't seem right in this instance. especially given the game-design driven nature of the forum. :)...

Does that include what you told him? :P
most certainly does... more so than for anyone else. we find our own paths in life. or we don't. i'd hate to be the one to take that away from someone :)

Re: Mystery solved (and yet it gets me no where)

i always find water is more important in clearing my mind that solitude. maybe it's just my love of showers. but immersing myself in water has always helped me in times of need. maybe when you go on your walk, find a river to walk near :) PS: this advice is a big step up for me. normally i'd prescri...

It is pretty much throwing dynamite in water to, well, fish... Try it yourself, just don't forget to light it up. note, this refers to in game. in the real world... please don't... really. it's called "red-neck" for a reason, and it's much the same reason as lynch-mobs are considered &quo...

Games for a better world

I recently watched a talk on ted.com by Brenda Brathwaite, famed game designer. In this talk Brenda discussed her new passion in game design, an area that could be called Educational Gaming. But it isn't your standard "Math's Castle" game she makes, not even a Scrabble rip off with cute fa...

Re: Curse and video ads

I don't spend much time on MCF anymore... as a whole Curse just annoys me as a a company. I can't put my finger on why, I just don't like them much. But I've found that with other sites that spam video ads at me constantly, one after the other, I can stop them by clicking the ad to follow the link. ...

Re: Wedding music

when my cousin got married many years back, they danced out of the church to the Blue Swede version of Hooked On A Feeling.

It was great, because everyone started laughing and joining in singing and clapping, plus the chorus really fits :)
