Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Spoilers in Spoilers

On a few stone blocks: You can get regular cobblestone and bricks in the world by placing the loose versions and then adding clay to serve as mortar. I haven't figured out how to get them back into my inventory though (which is actually a big problem because it means I still can't use them to build...

Wow, its been a crazy couple or years for me personally since I last did this (1st child was born, 1st divorce was finalized, 1st new job in 14 years) but it feels good to be back on my feet and stable enough to reach that donate button.

Thank you for drawing us all back in!

3rd strata stone only easily breakable with SFS tool instead of diamond. Being able to safely and easily strip mine the good stuff relatively early on in progression lessens the danger and scarcity issues most of us seem to masochistically enjoy. In my opinion (for what its worth), caves through thi...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A3 Headed Beastie) - NO SPOILERS

Checked the forums today on a whim... And man that changelog is downright sexy :) The anvil change alone would have been enough to require another play through after my year-long break but the changes to boats/wither's/food promise to be a lot of fun. Furnace quality of life is a nice addition as we...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A2 Timing Rodent) - NO SPOILERS

I had started a new game last week after a 6 month hiatus. Can't wait to load this up and run through the tech tree. That change log has some subtle greatness to it! I look forward to how this will change how I play the mid and early game. Thank you FlowerChild!!

It is back up with a much smaller (and much more appropriate, in my opinion) goal that funded in 22 hours. They are in stretch goal time now. I've backed it and will probably give away two of my four Alpha keys here since I have only one other IRL friend interested... I'm older and most of them have...

Re: Problems configuring BTW server.

Its likely the issue with the new launcher overwriting your client install. Take a look at the tech support topic directly below this one. Even if you didn't use MCPatcher and instead installed the mod manually the fix (modifying the end of the .json file) works. EDIT: ...and if I read the OP more c...

Re: Mid-Game Slump

I feel a bit differently. For me personally, I have always enjoyed the automation aspects of BTW more than any other feature. The early game, while certainly enjoyable, tends to leave me feeling confined until I reach about crucible tech. This has led me to become more creative with the earlier tec...

Arcen Games in trouble, again

Its tough out there for the small indie developer. At least this time they are not on the verge of closing their doors. The below link summarizes the how and why of their current situation. https://arcengames.com/great-work-on-starward-rogue-team-now-youre-all-laid-off/ Like a few others on these for...

Re: RimWorld Alpha 9

I can't be sure one way or the other. It was both beacons in my general storage but is a high traffic area. Its entirely possible a colonist dropped what they were carrying if they had been reprioritized while traveling nearby. I'll try to keep better watch of that area and If I catch them in the ac...

Re: RimWorld Alpha 9

Anyway, my sniper's great for finishing sieges as he can go in and kill people from a long distance. Just gotta make sure i have backup so when the fighting starts, he doesn't get killed and captured. I gotcha. I must have had a brain-fart when I wrote that as I do the same thing to take out sieges...

Re: RimWorld Alpha 9

HOWEVER, don't neglect the final option there in that once you have a comms console, you can call other colonies for military reinforcement if things get bad, so if you don't get a decent trader in a decent amount of time, reserving some cash for that use might be a good backup plan. I'll admit I d...

Re: RimWorld Alpha 9

I know I was tempted a couple of times to abduct passing members of other colonies to try and boost my numbers which definitely didn't happen during my previous play. I decided against it as I didn't want to risk motivating them to attack me, but was definitely tempting. You and me both, man. I hav...

Re: how much time until a SFS beacon generates blight?

A few carefully placed hibachis and torches can make short work of large sections. It won't always take care of the tops of trees and the end result can be a little messy but it is kind of cool to run back a few dozen blocks and take in the "Apocalypse Now" type carnage once it really gets...

Re: RimWorld Alpha 9

Yeah, I don't think the crop thing is best either and said as much above when I brought up non-art skill based income earlier. Ever since my first successful vanilla play through, I too have felt art was a little too effective at making money once you dedicate a talented colonist to it. I'm glad you...

Are you sure the food stuffs are not already sellable? Wait a minute, I always have my food in the freezer… out of range of my beacons. So..uh...yeah. You are most likely correct. Given the black market traders already have access to such seeds, and given proving the quality of what you're selling ...

Sweet! Based on your previous comments I figured we would be getting seeds that had to be purchased but I thought you might do away with the standard growing zones and make growing hydroponics only. These “Rimworlds” have been terraformed but you get the sense that the lore allows for subpar quality...

Well, I'm about a 18 months in-game into BTSG on rough. The early game played relatively easy for me on this play though and has ramped up nicely. All of my finished games have been on challenge. It took a couple of vanilla games but with turrets I was able to get up to speed pretty quickly by avoiding putting my guys in jeopardy as much as possible. The large waves did damage sure but replacing turrets, walls, and power conduits was more of a...

Back on topic: Started a new colony, repelled the first 2 pirate attacks with ease, however, the 3rd attack was with tribesmen, and they overwhelmed me again. It feels now as if my survival is depending on chance, as I can repel a few gunmen and brawlers, but once there are 15 cavemen charging at m...
