Retro SciFi Texture Pack [32x] (Updated November 10)
This texture pack requires MCPatcher for full function. (Optifine is reputed to be a decent substitute, but I haven't verified that.) Re: Windmills should break attached saws while it is raining
I always thought it was necessary for a power source to be connected to a gearbox to "regulate" it. I imagine the ideal behavior would be for any device connected directly to the windmill to break, regardless of weather.

Re: Design Change Warning: Rotating Gear Boxes
I was a little upset that manual rotation won't be safe. Now the more I think about it, the more weird and annoying the rotation mechanic seems. Why rotate through 5 different settings when I can just break and replace it? And there's no obvious indication of which way it's turned. It may be refresh...

Re: Show us your builds!
Dr. Kylstein, what do you mean by fully automated donut shop? I'm intriuged. It's got an auto wheat farm connected to a millstone and a cauldron behind the counter. The seeds aren't automatically recycled, but it can run unattended for quite a while. Also, I really like how Panoctagon Ex Mortis ski...

Here are my two main worlds: This is a survival world dating back to Alpha ~1.5, still in use. It's unfortunately quite frumpy at the moment since it was abandoned for a while and has recently been undergoing rapid industrialization. Texturepack is Glimmar's Steampunk. http://img571.imageshack.us/im...

Re: taking soul sand/ dirt out of planters
Perhaps the planter could spill its soil when broken? It might be annoying if you place one by accident or relocate, but there are workarounds (Silk Touch/BDs/Pistons).

Re: My Mother is a Wolfaboo
I'd imagine my wolves are rather happy actually. They sit on their comfy glass blocks listening to the soothing sounds of water flowing beneath them and are fed almost as soon as their digestive system allows space. The darkness also ensures they get as much sleep as they'd like whenever they want....

Re: Jungles in old maps?
I did some agressive pruning on my map from Alpha ~1.5, and now it's filthy with the things. There's even one of those Taiga-Jungle combos. Most of the deleted chunks had already been deleted once or twice before, so there aren't many new cliffs. However, this time the borders are all ocean, so I ha...

This looks really promising! I've been working on a texture pack with a similar theme, so I'm eager to see where this goes. I already envy your cobblestone.

Re: Biggest FAIL moments in my minecraft history
Alas, poor Agrajag. He was the bowl of petunias. The best I can think of at the moment goes way back to when I first played Survival. After building a settlement and doing fairly well, I got killed by zombies. When I respawned, I didn't see any landmarks, and assumed I'd been reincarnated in a new ...

Re: HOLY CRAP Do I have a lot of work on my hands.
I also hope that I'm overreacting in my initial impressions when I say that the new wolves are horrible. Yes, they're smarter, but in the process they've become exceptionally creepy and robotic. The way they move their heads now, the way they turn as if they're a 18-wheeler, their torsos making wid...

Re: Ghast traps
Top to bottom shooting should also mean easy arrows collection, since you can simply put hoppers right beneath the respective dispensers. Although I'm not certain about how much the arrows would deviate when shot like this - never tried myself. Here's a spread test. The gray wool is directly beneat...
