Re: New Release! (BTW V4.62)

Dude. Everything in this patch is god damned brilliant. The weighted armor and chainmail availability especially. You're making this game go to 11.

Re: What is your most advanced redstone circuitry?

The most complex circuit I myself have put together is probably my sand recycler in my urn factory. I'm using Noir's auto-urns and auto-kiln designs, but the sand pushing those urns into the kiln is pushed over an edge and collected into a hopper which is connected to an item elevator with lens-conn...

Re: HC Hunger findings and balance observations

Again man...farting in the wind. I don't want to hear your (or anyone's) predictions about gameplay, just observations. Wasn't a prediction man, I was saying that from my experience starting with villages that I find a lot of the work is done for you, and if we're essentially forced to do so now th...

Re: HC Hunger findings and balance observations

With the new early game task of finding a village as fast as possible, I am finding myself having to pass up really nice base spots due to the inevetable lack of animals the area will soon fall under if I stay too long. I also have no reason to return to these areas until much later in the game, th...

Re: What's the last new vanilla feature you really used?

Bah. Didn't you know? Automation only leads to the game "playing itself", and thus is bad, mkay? What you're supposed to do instead is totally exhaust the limited content supplied and stop playing entirely. Oh right, my mistake. I guess I've just been playing their sandbox game the wrong ...

Re: What's the last new vanilla feature you really used?

What I find surprising is the list of things I don't use. Non-comprehensive list: Dead Weight Flower Pots Fireworks Most food items Diamond Tools Diamond Armor Beds (I freaking love the flavor text for this one, btw) Wolves (as vanilla intended) Basically everything in the redstone update... When yo...

Oh, I never thought of using a double gate design like that! Having an airlock for our pig enclosure would help more than a little bit.

Re: Platforms destroy *very* quickly

EDIT: One thing to say for the ladder idea is that it would resolve a problem in SMP where you tend to get "bumped off" dirt towers while destroying them under laggy conditions. The ladder thing would allow you to climb back down to the bottom of the stack and then deconstruct it from bel...

Re: What do YOU use lenses for?

Definitely long distance toggles. I have a sand-driven urn factory that recycles the sand with a lens triggered elevator that saved me quite a headache on redstone wiring. I'm also going to be using them aesthetically to turn the lights on my base exterior at night, as I have two giant towers which ...

Re: Upcoming design change - villagers

Awesome! We're just in the middle of relocating a village to the inside of our base on my server (with stone brick buildings no less. We treat our villagers right) with no real plans to farm them. The current trade system is excruciatingly lame, I'm really excited to see what you do with it.

So, I may be wrong, but I think he won't implement NPCs. Well that's great and all, but it's also speculation in the man's own Q&A thread which won't help anyone. I'm quite familiar with what goes into rudimentary AI having worked on a turn-based strategy game myself. That's not really what I w...

Sorry guys, I'm a little burned out on questions right now It's actually great that you've even opened up a formal line for something like this, so please take your time with it. Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of Jan 28th)

This is an awesome change. I never liked the idea of having to disassemble a fortress to build a trap and was working on ways to avoid that. With this, I won't have to. I get the aesthetics and the loot. It's the small things like this that make the mod so valuable FC, so a hearty thanks to you.

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of Jan 28th)

Will have to think on that, as that spawn mechanic is definitely not designed with mob-traps in mind as it's far from intuitive. And with that, I hold off building my Wither farm in case something changes :) They're not hard to hunt by hand as is (hell, it's the most fun I've had in MC in quite a w...

There are more than a few Hives of Scum and Villainyâ„¢ on the net, but in the case of SomethingAwful I have to say it does exactly what it says on the box. Warmed my heart reading about this today. For those interested in what a server-destabilizing, World-War-1-esque space battle looks like, there's...

Re: Whatever the Wither?

I believe the Wither is best explained by its components. I really like Arandia's explanation of Soul Sand, so we'll go with that. As for the Wither Skeletons, they are the animated corpses of the strongest warriors who were fielded to combat the Ender Dragon (their size speaks to their physical str...

Ugh. I did not need to read that comment stream. Does horrible things to my blood pressure. Seeing mod authors referred to as "entitled children" for not wanting their mods included in packs is about the most hilariously backwards thing I've read all month.

There's a certain logical disconnect going on here where people seem to view donations for a full game to somehow be more legitimate than those made for a mod, despite the fact that they're getting more value out of it, and that the work I do on the mod is certainly no lesser than that I would inve...
