Re: Computer Building For Dummies (Help Wanted)
Okay thanks for all the information and I have my computer parts all selected except the SSD (I am using two HDD on RAID 1 for normal storage), I can't find an SSD that is a 3.5" to fit the caddy other than a couple of refurbished ones on newegg (haven't looked beyond newegg). My question is d...

Re: FPS drop since 4.58
Seems to be working well for me too. In the heart of my BTW world before the patch my frame rate tended in the low to mid 20's peaking at around 40. With the patch I now get steady frame rates in the low 30's and often never drop below 28 FPS. This fix is pretty sweet. :)

Re: Computer Building For Dummies (Help Wanted)
Newegg has done a few decent tutorials on how to build a computer, part one of three can be found here . The video description also contains other useful links. http://pcpartpicker.com/ is a good site, it neatly organizes parts and gives prices on the parts from several different retailers (I.E. New...

I honestly don't even know, pistons probably, upside-down stairs for sure and some item frames. I can't seem to recall what was added to MC since 1.0 :|

I'd like to support the idea of reduced view distance during night time, that would be terrifying in the early game. Night would truly be an obstetrical and a threat to be avoided.

Beacons need to 'see' either sky or bedrock to be active, space is irrelevant.

Yeah, I just did that. The SFS beacon is a type of fixed spawn point, I have yet to test the range of it. I think there's still more though :D

Alrighty then! I have built my Level 4 soulforged steel beacon and I'm currently trying to figure out just what it all does. Things I have found so far When right-clicking on it you get the message "You have been bound to this beacon" It makes amazing noises when at Level 4 That's all I ha...

Re: Your favorite redstone circuit/component?
I find RS latches to be amazing. I've always preferred my data storage and toggles to machines be RS latches as opposed to T-flip-flops or D-flip-flops. Logically in my mind it a lot easier for me to work out components when memory has a dedicated set and reset line, rather than a toggle down the sa...

Just remember to always do your research before committing to anything, benchmark tests and customer reviews are your best friends. I use Passmark for any benchmark tests and amazon, newegg, tigerdirect, as well as manufacture sites for customer reviews.

Re: Looking at Computers - Advice Appreciated!
Yeah, hopefully they'll respond with the model number at least. Motherboards that are Crossfire/SLI ready are usually listed as so, if the kit doesn't say then it probably isn't. If I recall correctly, for Crossfire, both PCIe x16 need to be at x16 (x4 mode is for like sound cards, I can't really th...

Re: Looking at Computers - Advice Appreciated!
Oh, what motherboard are you getting? If you're looking for expandability (you always should) I'd try to find one with support for socket AM3+ (pretty much standard these days), >8GB of RAM (more than 2 DIM modules), and crossfire compatibility.

Re: Looking at Computers - Advice Appreciated!
A word on the FX series of processors, they are fast but that speed comes at a price, they run pretty hot. If you're going to run it hard (and it sounds like you will if your going for a 7850) you're probably going to need a liquid cooling unit, a reliable one will run you upwards $100. I have a Phe...
