Re: What version of Optifine would I want?

Standard or Smooth. As others have stated, MT is pretty buggy, and, unless you're rocking a beastly dual or quad-core set up, you won't really notice any improvements. Optifine Smooth with CTM, Better Grass, and Biome Colors + HD Textures = So effing pretty.

Re: Punishmental <3

On small servers, where the players all know each other, this kind of thing can be amusing. However, I would imagine that using this on larger servers would be a bit of a nightmare. I suppose if it's used as a true punishment for misbehavior, it could have applications. I particularly like the idea ...

Well, if you ever find yourself in Central Pennsylvania, get a hold of me. Wait, scratch that, there's nothing in Central PA worth seeing. (Unless your into geology. There are some pretty neat natural caves around here.) Another Fun Fact(TM): Pennsylvania has more acres of State and National Parks t...

Yeah, whether or not you trust a particular government with this kind of power is what I feared this would get into. That is of course a matter of individual choice, and will also be dependent on where you live. I'd prefer the conversation stay away from opinions on particular governments in that r...

Again, I'm trying to avoid getting political, but in carrying a cell-phone you are voluntarily carrying a tracking and surveillance device. I'm taking the bait on this one, even if it might result in unfavorable consequences. Yes, while it is technically possible for <insert governing body here> to...

Just so you can update the "Mac" section: If you have Mac OSX Lion, you're unable to access the "Library" folder in your files. The only other way to access it besides download a program that brings it back, you have to click "Go" under the menu bar then type ~/library...

Re: New phone!

Seems like everyone is getting new phones. I just picked up a Droid X2 for $0.10 w/ 2yr. Nice phone, so far. Very snappy. As long as I remember to end apps when I don't need them. Otherwise the phone's RAM gets bogged up and I need to force a restart. Haven't rooted, yet, but that might be something...

Re: [GUIDE] How to Keep Your Save Data Safe

Nicely done. I've been worried about putting my saves on Dropbox because I didn't want to face file corruption due to network connection problems. I'm guessing I shouldn't worry about that. I've never had a problem. Then again, I always make sure I exit Dropbox when I start Minecraft, so that my ha...

[GUIDE] How to Keep Your Save Data Safe

Greetings! This guide serves as a tutorial for Minecrafters who wish to keep their precious worlds safe from the event of catastrophic failure. I know that, in my time, I have run into various situations where having a reserve copy of my world was a big help. Parts of this guide are based on Save Da...

Re: Fringe: Out of control product placement?

I was just watching the newest episode of Fringe, and while I had been noticing more and more product placement in the series as time went on, this most recent episode really crossed the line IMO. It opens with someone purchasing coffee through their branded smart-phone, and while this is pretty st...

Notch once-again proves that he's awesome

The regular Indie Bundle sales on Steam have always attracted a good amount of attention from the Minecraft community, as Notch has always been a prominant figure (yes, figure in a monetary sense as well) in the proceedings. Recently, EA announced there own "Indie Bundle" and many gaming b...

Re: TESO

I don't want an Elder Scrolls MMO, I just want simple 2-4 player online (or splitscreen I guess on consoles) co-op. So long as Elder Scrolls VI has singleplayer and it isn't forced on me, I'll just watch the project amusedly and hope it goes well. However, this does put a big, neon arrow over Bethe...

So, RPS just released an article about Bethesda announcing The Elder Scrolls Online. The comments seem fairly divided on the matter. On the one hand you have the group of brand loyalists, who feel that TES is meant to stay SP, and on the other is a group of people seem to believe that, if done right...

Re: [MOD IDEA] Sticky Carts

Ah, understandable. You may also want to look at this(again, unless you've already seen it) http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/traincarts/ Because it's a bukkit plugin, it will likely be quite difficult to recode it for singleplayer. Oh well, it's something, I guess. Interesting. I'm not sure I like...
