Re: Interest Check: Better Than Tomb of Horrors?
Any idea how you would run this MaxAstro? Yeah, will this be an in-forum thing? Or what? EDIT: First post says it'll be play-by-post. Also, unless someone else wants to, totally going alchemist. Mad science FTW! If someone else wants to be an alchemist, then I'll go oracle. Because cursed powers ar...

Re: [SPOILERS] Special Mob Trap
And now, just to make sure, does anyone know if the jungle spiders ONLY spawn on leaves in a jungle biome? Or do they spawn on any 2-thick jungle leaves?

Re: Negating HC Spawn
I just make my main base at 0,0, then when I have to HCS, I make a monument leading in the compass heading I read and then remember my way back, I would like to finish a massive road system that I've been planning for several worlds, but it seems that the universe just hates it when I play BTW for t...

Re: Game Theory: A scientific explanation for creepers
I tend to go by the headcanon that steve is unconsciously the 'god' of the minecraft world, and that monsters in general are manifestations of fears in his subconscious. (Creepers, specifically, being the fear of loosing everything, and it all being for naught.)
Also, that guy is annoying as hell...

Zombie Pigmen are not aggro'd by splash poison potions
Yeah. This makes it easy to just poison all the pigmen in the area, wait for them to stop taking damage, and then just one-hit kill them all.

You can always leave the bottom-most log standing on each tree. You might not get quite as much wood, but then again you would have your lovely field of stumps. Ninja'd by FC. I feel privileged. As for what has changed for me, personally, is something that seems to be rather common: I used to hate ...

Sorry, I know the slip up wasn't significant, but it made me twitch...
Anyway, this does look like an interesting game, though I can tell just from the trailers that they do not even ATTEMPT to achieve a true lovecraftian theme. It doesn't look like it detracts from the game, however.

Re: Mob Traps
I'm rather surprised that endermen-compatible overworld mobtraps aren't more common... You can use four pistons, a turn table, open gates and any solid block to make an Enderman-compatible push source, and plus there's always drop traps. If nothing else, this would at least ensure that you're ready ...

Re: Surviving early game surrounded by jungle
Its much better to use nether to find villages in my opinion He just wants to survive early game man, why are you suggesting he find villages. Actually, it's not all that difficult to go out of the HC spawning range using a boat, since the oceans in MC are often massive and extend well beyond it. I...

There's also always vanilla BUDs if you don't find those too cheaty, which can be combined with lenses as a pre-end alternative to block/item detectors. This can be VERY useful for certain kinds of automation. Also, I highly reccomend an automated chicken farm for feathers. I can take screenshots of...

Re: Hardcore Spawn - Jungles
This is something I recently had to deal with as well, and it feels like it's one of the few areas in the game where death feels arbitrary and inevitable. Jungles are damn near impossible to survive in from day one and the only real option is, as stated above, just dig yourself a hole and starve to ...

Another thing I've found helps a lot if you're having difficulty getting food, is to make a fishing rod. You can find the new recipe here: http://sargunster.com/btw/index.php?title=Hardcore_Modes#Hardcore_Fishing And also remember to bait the rod by crafting it with rotten flesh, spider eyes, bat wi...

Using Games as an Educational Medium
So, I'm going to be doing a report on this for a class, as this is a topic of some interest to me, and am just curious what opinions you guys have on the new trend of using games for/in education. Just some thought kickstarters: What might this mean for games in the future? Or for gaming companies? ...
