Re: Speculating on BTW's story and narrative.

I think slime is naturally heavier than water, and slimes have no moving parts to swim, so they just drown, there's not much to read into I don't think slimes drown if they don't have lungs and slimeballs are neutral bouyant in water. How I think of it is that the slimes pick up dirt and sometimes ...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

Flower, did you know that fully grown pumpkin stem gives off three seed when broken? I did not until yesterday, and I see this as a potential game-breaker. Haven't got around to advanced restonery on our server yet, but I think it won't be a problem to make a farm working on this effect. Fresh stem ...

Re: Any reason for no torchlight?

I thought about this, but I have seen similar things done in plenty of other games. I guess im just out of my league here and don't know what im talking about :) If you're interested in more detail: In games with moving light sources they are usually merely shaders applied to world. Thanks to GPU, ...

Re: Speculating on BTW's story and narrative.

-Wither skeletons have the bones of steve, so there may be a connection between endermen and steve -Water also hurt's slimes meaning they either don't have souls, dissolve into water due to physics, or both. -Lava does not hurt nether mobs so it may hurt anything with a soul. -Lava hurts overworld ...

Re: Speculating on BTW's story and narrative.

Some observations and I-defenitely-remember-something-like-this-es: - FlowerChild has stated a number of times that Endermen taint Overworld blocks to rebuild the End. - Skeletons and zombies resemble Steve, not villagers. - Yet his flesh is akin to villagers'. - Nether collects souls which have bee...

Re: Anyone interested in starting a new BTW DF game?

I was looking around the ancient bits of the forums and I noticed that this community likes DF. So here's my proposal: -Standard Succession -Any level of skill -Slightly stupid fortress location (perhaps next to elven city?) Anyone interested? Locke I had never played Dwarf Fortress succession game...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

To be noted Jeb has spent some time on optimizing the new lighting system and on my lappy there is a difference. (in the good way) the fps has gone up, there are no more lag spikes, block lag and my cpu fan is a lot slower ;) But what really gets me, is why the fuck was this not in the actual relea...

Re: Particles not disappearing...

Manual (MC Patcher doesn't run in Linux, I'm using Midnight Commander), and I just used a fresh install from archived vanilla like I said before. The only thing in this install is ModLoader and BTW. I'm glad you fixed your problem, but you should know that MCPatcher in fact does run on Linux. http:...

Re: Living on a doughnut

3) Cube. It's a bit hard to imagine, but the map would basically be shaped like a cross and the edges would connect like when folding it up like a square. Heh, it's not only hard to imagine, it took me 10 minutes to get straight what the observer standing on such a map will see (assuming no walls)....

Re: RTH Q&A thread

If it's in java it'll probably be "public static void main(String[] args) {" even though eclipse will usually write that much for you. C++ would be int main() { I'd bet.[/quote] My bet is for #include <iostream> or some other #include. Also, FlowerChild, will RTH be height-limited like Mi...

Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't need to print donation bill or whatever is it called, do I? I have no previous experience with PayPal. Well donation is all done online. Clicking through all the confirmation screens will make the donation. Anything you print is typically for your own record...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of Jan 28th)

Two things, first off thanks for the hint on what the obsidi beacon does, more experimenting inbound! Second is a question. Will nether mobs spawn on nether brick half slabs? (when the slab is in the top 1/2 space of the block) And a great thanks to you for creating a larger "spawning box"...

Re: Minetest, a C/C++ GNU Minecraft

That's the point, it's in a very unmature stage but is LGPL, what means that you can copy the code while your product also extends that LGPL license. That would allow a C programmer to have his own MineCraft clone starting from this basis and correct Mojangs errors (beacon checking all entities? wa...

Re: Minetest, a C/C++ GNU Minecraft

While this project certainly has some potential, it's still very immature in the sense of looking like Minecraft ripoff. Last versions are starting to overcome this though, so I'm looking forward to what they will make next. Modding community around Minetest is very strange, too. There are mods that...
