Re: Better than Horses (No Alligators please)
Horses currently only spawn in vanilla biomes, and relatively rarely at that. If it is possible to add horses to the BoP spawnlist I may look into doing so, but as it is they will not. The multiplayer thing is likely a result of the relatively hacky solution I made to release the alpha without modif...

Good on you. I just hope that you can manage to create a "complete" game in your allotted time, and be satisfied completely with it. Then you'll truly be free to pursue your dream (RTH).FlowerChild wrote:This is the final stretch guys

Re: Hopper efficiency
It may be worth noting that soulsand hoppers have a limit to the amount of xp they can absorb at one time. This usually only applies when you have a mob grinder with massive output, but it should be kept in mind regardless. Having two soulsand hoppers in a row or slowing the water flow as mentioned ...

Re: Better than Horses (No Alligators please)
FC, seriously don't sweat it. We can distribute, it just requires modifying a vanilla base class (any of them as far as I can tell, and there's plenty to choose from). Also, horses aren't all that close to being ready to release, sure they work and everything, but many of the features designed for t...

Re: Better than Horses (No Alligators please)
Is this addon adding the first ever situation of entity gender to Minecraft? No, several mods have done it in the past. However, horses will indeed likely have gender, though gender in this sense doesn't necessarily mean gender in the sense of real life. Think of it more like having two different v...

Re: Trap Doors: Have I gone too far?
I have somewhat mixed feelings on it. On the one hand, in the context of other wooden objects such as doors and fences no longer interfacing with redstone, along with the planned addition of actual redstone interfacing mechanisms, trap doors definitely should follow the internal consistency defined ...

Consistent jack o'lanterns
Jack o'lanterns can only be placed if they have a supporting block under them, even though they don't actually need one (if removed, the jack o'lantern will stay in place). The suggestion is to either remove this limitation in regards to placing them or make them require a supporting block like pump...

Re: Why I love HC Bucket
There's actually a section of Vech's tutorial map that specifically teaches you how to do that. It's really not all the hard though once you have the timing down. As far as the topic goes, HCB also prevents the semi-cheaty (ok, really cheaty) method of dumping a bucket of water down a ravine and jum...

Re: The Official Hook Request Thread
A hook for custom client --> server packets. Better Than Horses needs this to send certain keypresses, and NetServerHandler seems to be already modified, so yah. Also, bonus points if you send the EntityPlayerMP object when the hook is called.

Thought I'd let everyone know that I'm claiming the abandoned village denoted by 'I' on the map in OP. The area seems to be clear of builds, so hopefully this is alright. If not, please let me know soon before I get too far into the building process. Also, thanks for all the community resources guys...

You may have a point, but... ...and I can kill withers without even taking damage. I'd like to call BS on that one, unless you're not actually fighting it directly. Exaggeration doesn't help anything. During the late game, survival may not be so much of an issue, true. But Minecraft's and Better Tha...

I'm curious as to whether the potion effects last indefinantly/for a long time or for the normal potion time. On the one hand, if they don't last for very long it is unlikely that steve will actually encounter a spider with an active status effect unless he is wandering around, spawning new spiders....

Ahem* Back on-topic ahem* Don't get cocky...ever. Even if you feel confident in your awesome full leather armor and iron pants, with your fancy iron sword and diamond pickaxe, you are still weak. never, becuase they are so fussy and don't work right. Rails have so much potential, It's sad to see them so underused and under-developed. I tried to use them, but the way you feed coal into them is a little dumb. I'm surprised that they don't have a GUI, considering all the things that do. I real...

Re: Better than Horses (No Alligators please)
I'd be interested, though if anything I should probably stick to coding. If I were to attempt to create a horse model it would likely end up looking like a barrel attached to a set of toothpicks :P Also, creating a topic is nice and all, but it seems, based on the actual implementation of ideas vs t...

Man, its so hard not talking about all the awesome changes to wolves. Freakin' epic man!
Also, with the new wood changes it seems that wood walls around my abandoned village will have to wait, time to build some sexy dirt walls.
P.S. Also, love that you use tannin for tannin' :P

Interesting method there Sterling, might have to try that on any new mines I happen to make. What I have been doing for a while is creating 3x3 halls in a grid pattern with 5x5 rooms every so often. From the 3x3 halls I would have branching paths every 3 blocks (because you are unlikely to find a or...

Difficulty Lock Mod
So, to make a long story short, I made a mod that locks the difficulty on each world. Basically, I've made it so the game will look for a custom data file in the root of your saves, and lacking one it will ask you to choose a difficulty. From there on out, difficulty is set, and cannot be changed in...

Awesome sauce. Hardcore Fist fixes a problem which I hadn't even considered to be a problem (though in hindsight it undoubtably is, who punches cows to death?), improving my overall immersion and experience. As per usual, thanks for the release and the constant work you put into our free content!
