It puts the bootsies on the wolfsies or else it gets the diamond saw.

Do you have a ticket to Pony Island?

After my gf started watching a let's play series of Pony Island, I knew I had to play it after the first five minutes or so. It's extremely short, only about two hours of gameplay, but I very much enjoyed the experience and treated it like a two hour movie. It goes on steam for $5 normally, so it wa...

Re: Gamemaker: Studio Pro (humble bundle)

I used to mess with older versions of GameMaker back in high school, before YoYo bought the rights to it. The systems they have make a pretty decent intro into level building and a basic level of programming concept, though learning GML is a must in order to do anything more complicated with it. If ...

There's also Rebel Galaxy, which I have yet to play but is supposed to be $20 and focuses more on large naval-like capital ship battles.

Re: Steam Sale Season

I've noticed on my current Queue the game FortressCraft:Evolved popped up and after giving it a read over I was wondering if anybody here had played it and what their thoughts were. It claims to be a voxel based tower defense type game with heavy automation. You have a few buildings at the start, st...

Re: Future of BTW?

Just wanted to dip in myself to give another quick thanks for all the work you've put into this mod over the years, and in particular for the inspiring design discussions that I've read through. Although I haven't been playing very much lately (aside from the LP, which only gets a recording every so...

Re: BTW - Video Series List and Discussion Thread

Episode 6 is up I need a night when Davice is free again before I can start recording any more episodes. Any feedback is helpful as well, as this series is more or less my first attempt at doing Let's Plays aside from two short Pokemon recordings to help me get used to the idea of addressing an aud...

In the dark of the night evil will find you, in the dark of the night just before dawn. Little Kaze my sweet, soon you'll be nothing but meat, in the dark of the night you'll be gone.

Re: BTW - Video Series List and Discussion Thread

Another episode up, 4.0 Due to the short maximum video times I've shortened the recordings to only 10 minutes or so each, which should mean I don't need to stick to the decimal systems I've been using. Unfortunately, things have been a little buggy this time around and the recording before this was...

Re: BTW - Video Series List and Discussion Thread

Finally had some time to get a start on an LP series of my own. Unfortunately, I don't often have the time or connection to do a stream, though the summer may give me some time to get some more episodes recorded and uploaded. The first few episodes should already be up by the end of the day. The lin...

Re: Steam Sales

If I remember correctly, good old Dune II used to have exploding spice pockets start appearing on the map when the match started going on too long... you could ram an infantry into it to get a little more spice for yourself or try to lure an enemy unit into detonating it for you.

A post generally irrelevant and unrelated to the original post indicating the video had not been watched, but rather a response to the discussion generated by it.

Re: The Martian

I'll be honestly, I probably enjoyed the movie as much as I did because science fiction movies lately have been pretty disappointing when it comes to being hard science fiction. I've come to expect pop antics comedy from just about everything in the genre and given up on hard fi making it into film ...

Re: The Martian

Just saw it myself last night with a friend and rather enjoyed it. Less silly shenanigans than gravity had and a more solid premise than interstellar. (magic black hole planets and time traveling space gods?) Did a good job of maintaining the feel of Apollo 13 and the pressure for time was always pr...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A Dingo) - NO SPOILERS

I'd always taken the floating blue sequences to be a kind of limbo you rest in between deaths and an integral part of my interpretation of the BTW story, but, considering the benefits of its removal I can't see any room to argue. Always a pleasure though to see the latest tweaks and changes made to ...

Re: Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Like the tethering through oxygen thing: brilliant. Gating player progress in open world games is an inherently challenging problem because they are so, well...open. I thought the oxygen thing was a very organic and natural feeling solution to that problem which also incentivized player constructio...

Re: This mod is still as awesome as ever!

I admit I haven't played Better Than Wolves very much in so much as the past six months, but it has more to do with life and its turns (and the occasional shiny) than anything else. To this day though, I have yet to find few games, much less mods, than serve as better example of solid design than th...

Perhaps they've decided to follow the Minecraft definition? 3 1/2 years after "full release" we're still seeing new "features" being added while they ignore the holes in existing systems :)

Re: BTW Mempries as 4 Year anniversary aproaches

I've had a couple rather meaningful experiences with Better Than Wolves. The first one is from way back before the hardcore modes were added. I had been playing a lot of forge mods of the time (buildcraft, EE, industrial, etc.) usually with the goal of rushing to the top then using my top tech statu...
