Re: Steam Sales
I've seen a couple lets players try it in VR. Both reported major motion sickness when strafing due to the camera tilting

Re: Steam Sales
I've mostly avoided spending money on this summer sale, but I did pick up Subnautica for half off. Well worth it and from what I can glean has come a very long way since last year

I motion that it be referred to as the XBox 9 (IX), mostly to piss off Microsoft fans
Re: 4x Games
Newer Paradox titles do have a lot of DLC, but aside from things like theme or music packs, they all add quite a lot to the experience. Hearts of Iron 4 DLC is quite good, for example. You can take control of minor nations, not just the big players. Leading the Kingdom of Romania through World War I...

Re: No Man's Sky now
I don't get why you'd compare the two, when they're not the same genre of games They are exactly the same game at different levels of complexity. The core appeal for both is a large, unexplored space for people to put their mark on. Elite just happens to have a lot of side paths to doing so, making...

Re: No Man's Sky now
To put it simply, NMS is too vast. Exploring it feels pointless because No one is likely to follow even a part of your path. As a result, the core mechanic of discovering and naming things is left hollow. With Elite, the path from the core is well traveled but there are always new branches to explor...

I can't justify NMS while Elite: Dangerous exists

Even if it did it would not matter. BTW is a mod for 1.5.2 and that will not be changingabculatter_2 wrote:Didn't the recent change of how ice affects items remove those cheaty things you could do? Or is there something more?

Children of a Dead Earth
How?! How is there not already a thread for this title? It is at it's core a perfect blend of a theater scale fleet command sim and a heavily armed Kerbal Space Program in the timeline where you accidentally blew up Kerbin. Throw in a dash of From the Depths system building which is the real core me...

My Summer Car - Hardcore Life Survival Simulator
Build a car out of spare parts and enter a finnish rally. Try not to die of a burst bladder. Knowledge of how to drive a diesel vehicle is required as there is nothing in the way of tutorial or guide. You will have to figure everything out for yourself. 10/10 would urinate on the burning wreckage of...

Re: Frequency
It's the one good time travel story out of at least three this season. The key to a good story based on time travel is subtlety and not only is Frequency keeping things more believable by restricting the actual travel to waves rather than sending particles, the story has a very tight focus.

Tiny sliver of silver lining, it sounds like 1.2 can be considered the stable final release that will allow mods to flourish

Side note, this playthrough is extremely entertaining. I've seldom heard anyone get this excited over basic accomplishments and narrow failure.

And considering the hit to my reputation that will result if they screw up their design as they continue work on their mod, I hope that level of quality continues past the two hour mark that is my current record

Fallout 4 is finally good
With FROST Survival Simulator Essentially a total conversion in progress that makes Fallout 4 feel like it was made by the Metro team rather than Bethesda. Taking place a few years after the bombs drop rather than 200. Everything from weapons to food and water are difficult to come by. No set quest,...

Re: Is anyone actually enjoying No Man's Sky?
There's also Rebel Galaxy, which I have yet to play but is supposed to be $20 and focuses more on large naval-like capital ship battles. It's sort of broadsidey, yes. It's also restricted to a single plane of travel, which adds to the at sea feel. Unfortunately your opponents are not restricted to ...

Re: Is anyone actually enjoying No Man's Sky?
They were going for the scale of the universe as the selling point but they wound up making it pointlessly large. There's not a whole lot of point trying to come up with names for a hundred different planets if no one is going to ever see them. If everyone were starting from a handful of different p...

Re: Sci fi and love
It's become obvious that I need to go back and watch it again but I remembered transfer orbits and retrograde burns being covered pretty well. The big battle was questionable by the very nature of how weapons would actually work in space but they helped my suspension of disbelief along by never actu...
