Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki

I just added a template for the personal 2x2 crafting grid. Works the same as the others, just with A1, A2, B1, B2. I added the Chisel page that calls it as an example. Not much info there, just mostly making sure it works. template:grid/crafting I'm playing again and realized I can make updates whe...

Re: Observations on Hunting, Wood, and Hunger Investment

Here's a few other tips that might be beneficial to your starvation problems. By night 2 you should be able to light multiple fires to cook more than one food item if you found webs. That should let you have almost full hunger during day 3, and by day 4 have a small surplus. At that point, it just c...

Isolated spawn - getting livestock to it?

After too many hardcore spawns to count, I finally made my way back to original spawn (OMG t3 strata is terrifying now!) and realized it's a small peninsula with the route to the rest of the island or mainland completely blocked by a massive jungle. In other words, no animals to eat. I managed to ri...

Re: Version 4.AAAAAAAAAAHHHH Spoilers in Spoilers

Not sure where the positive feedback and wtf just happened comments should go, maybe here? I happened to get a spawn near a ravine with exposed mineshafts and my initial thought was this is awesome, this will be easy. I was wrong. Today I learned the hard way that crude torches set things on fire. W...

Re: Show us your builds!

This is how I start my mob farms typically if I have a high enough water source. I laid out my spawn pads and central gathering point and built an aqueduct system to match. This lets me build my processing center at the height I want first and work my way up from there. https://i.imgur.com/fqryXRJ.p...

How to do stairs in multi floor buildings?

Alright, I'm getting tired of making myself nauseous running up and down twisted stairs in my current base. My base has...I don't even know...5 levels all of varying heights at the moment? Ladders are great, but I like open floors with stairs. I think it looks cool, only problem is I'm not sure how ...

Re: Hardercore Spawn [Spoiler Thread]

After you get your overworld direction by compass it should be the same in the nether. So just pay attention to your direction when you enter and make frequent marks to keep direction as you travel. And to clarify, the direction you the player is facing is maintained when you enter the portal. So i...

Re: Recent Villager changes. [Spoilers]

Encountered my first zombiefied village today. After setting up what I thought would be a good plan, the sun rose over two very sad farmers alone in a devastated village. I'm looking forward to finding another one so I can try again!

Sounds good to me! I use maps rarely due to the issues mentioned. Vanilla maps are like minecarts, half broken. I may actually use maps now that zooming in is consistent and works.

Re: Show us your builds!

The world I started playing after the recent update trend had an extreme hills nearby with several floating islands. One has a high water source block. I've made it my base and I'm trying to integrate a castle aesthetic. I'm not super far along yet. And yes, my structure has caught on fire a few tim...

Re: Stumped by Stumps

Does stump remover feel too costly for this? I know once I have a mob trap going I usually have enough creeper oysters and rotten flesh to clear just about any forest I care to. I don't know that that's the problem. I've just reached mechanical power and have not yet built a mob trap so my oyster s...

Stumped by Stumps

Hey guys, I'm looking for ideas on how to work with hc stumps on large scales. Do you guys really remove every stump? Does everyone have vast fields of stumps surrounding your bases? Anyone tried to grow new farms on top of dead stumps? I tried that in a different world and didn't like the dirt oreo...

Hunger & Health Status Visibility

I was handcranking while injured and got the "you're too exhausted for manual labor message". I noticed status text didn't say "hungry" but rather "injured". The priority in which status is displayed could lead to incorrect conclusions for newer or less experienced play...

I can hold down the right mouse button to plant seeds like wheat and cocoa beans but not for carrots or potatoes.
Some consistency in the ability to spam plant without repetitive clicking would be nice.

Re: Who (or what?) is Steve? Why is he here?

I would argue Steve is neither evil nor good. From what I see is Steve finds himself in a hostile world and is simply trying to survive and establish control and order over his own ability to live. I don't hold that the Nether or the End have special significance to the lore, merely that they are ad...

I wait until I have a couple of stacks of cobble available. I like having a ghast proof block to immediately wall the portal in and use to create short bridges if needed and markers in a fortress.

I second a revisit to stake / string. I want to be able to measure something without having to establish my endpoints first. New aesthetic ideas: -Some way of creating markers in the ocean. -Glass Half Slab -Log sidings with bark textures on one side. -Colored 'hard' blocks. Wool walls just seem wei...

I feel really bad that you and Sterling Red lost data to this. I should have listened to my instincts when he first mentioned it, so I'm very happy you at least had a backup to revert to. Dude, don't sweat it! I didn't provide very many specific details, so it would have been near impossible to fig...

Re: Hardcore Spawn

Hopefully this is the appropriate place to post this. On a restart, my orginal spawn was really close to a witch hut. I managed to dance around them for a day but by day two the witches had wandered a bit and were unavoidable. I suppose the way to avoid this death would have been to "get out of...

Re: Best Early Use of Jungle Temple Loot

I've used dispensers at this stage to auto feed chickens. 1 Dispenser to create a 5 minute item despawn timer (dirt piles and sawdust) and 1 to feed. It's lossless as long as you have 4 chickens. The egg rate isn't great with this as you'll often alternate between 3 and 4 eggs every morning but it's...

I've currently restarted (few days ago) since I had a chunk corruption issue and I rage quit. The mindset of a complete restart instead of working to replace or redo w...
