Re: Egoraptor OoT Review

I still don't understand Zelda II being a bad game. I thought it was pretty good. Not my favorite, but it doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Way better than the other sequels on the platform at the time (Simon's curse and Mario 2... *shudder*) As for OoT, I agree that there was too much waiting in th...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Rabbits are honestly a pretty pointless mob, potion ingredient aside, and the "Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog" is just plain ridiculous, considering it's more a pest than an easter egg. Spawning a Rabbit named 'Toast' using a name tag or renamed Spawn Egg will give the rabbit the skin of Redd...

Re: Music and Zombie Apocalypses

The Walking Dead had "wind chimes" that would make noise and draw zombies into pits. While that would work for shorter ranges, you'd need a huge amount of them to make any real dent in the zombie population. I think in season 4 they used speakers to draw zombies away from an area, probabl...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

It's not the fact that Mojang owes them anything, it's the fact that Mojang will be one of the only companies that actually holds this stance for their games, which is darkly ironic considering how they keep trying to bend over backwards for the community. Gmod, TF2, Counter Strike, Zombie Master, W...

-Added Hardcore Sinkholes as yet another thing you shouldn't worry about, particularly in the nether, where you should really be completely relaxed about the whole thing. That almost gave me a heart attack until you said we shouldn't worry about it. What a relief... -Changed a little something some...

Re: Welcome to Night Vale

I'll be honest, I have completely lost interest in the latest episodes. It feels like they have collapsed under the weight of their now massive fan base and have begun introducing vast amounts of references to past jokes and fan service to the episodes. EDIT: Word Choice We've been going one episod...

Welcome to Night Vale

So over the past month and a half, my friend and I have been listening to this podcast called "Welcome to Night Vale" on the way to class. The basis of the podcast is it's a community radio show based in a desert town called Night Vale, where the host describes Lovecraftian horrors going o...

Re: Factorio: A game all about automation

After playing the demo for about an hour, I've got to say this game is pretty tight. At 13 dollars for the game, it's way too good of a deal for me to pass up. I'm a big fan of technological development in games, and this one definitely provides in that regard. This game definitely falls under the b...

Re: The Question Of Multiplayer in RTH

I suppose the whole thing boils down to A.) what gameplay features we gain from a lack of multiplayer, and B.) what gameplay features we lose from having multiplayer. Considering the game isn't in development at the moment, and testing the waters wouldn't be feasible even if it was, I think the best...

You've been in the trenches of insanity for 3 years to help save Minecraft, you definitely deserve to clean your hands of the troubles....

There's no good way to optimize with these systems. It's no wonder this wasnt added before. EDIT: To clarify, I know that it's the same system that several BTW and vMC blocks use. However, the level of detail in dragon eggs or BTW's anvils really doesn't belong on blocks that appear as commonly as t...

Well, this is an interesting turn of events: spheres in Minecraft. Granted, there is no collision, they're completely impractical, and the only reason they exist is because of a quirk with minecarts of all things.

The issue here is that biomes are clumped together based on humidity, so you just see the same 2-3 types of biomes over and over till you cross a humidity value boundary. Called it :) "Oh noes! Deserts are next to tundra! Let's put them so far apart that players will be unlikely to ever see th...

I'm glad they fixed the semi-transparent block BS, but the ugly stained glass and lag spikes are a bit too painful to make up for it...

Also the whole inconsistency with the back faces being visible on stained glass just seems out of place and makes the thing seem hollow

Re: So this is new (Steam Controller)

I'm just trying to wrap my head around why they didn't just use normal joysticks for this thing. They're comfortable, and it's what gamers are used to at this point. I just can't see any benefits to this new control scheme. It's like they're reinventing the wheel, but along the way they decided that...

Seed of Andromeda

Not sure if any of you guys have seen this yet, but over the past few months this guy Ben Arnold has been working on a voxel game called "Seed of Andromeda", which is showing by far some of the most interesting use of voxels for a blocky building game. Just an example of the engine. Sw_Hrc...

Flowerchild, I just spent the last two days turning the jungle by my base into a parking lot. I'd say job well done on making jungles feel less safe.
