Re: Hang in there Notch (Being ultra rich and lonely)
I know twitter isn't really the best venue to discuss personal depression and other issues, especially given part of the path for Markus Persson's life to arrive at this stage is due to public criticism. But, I find myself respecting the guy for being candid. It's one of the things I've always liked...

Re: Show us your builds!
That looks deliciously overkill, I approve :P For comparison, my vine farm has only 8 saws and I have 3-4 doublechests of vine sitting there. I'm working on a mob farm at the intersection of swamp and jungle in an attempt to process all over world hostile mobs in one grinder. Lots of vine traps nee...

Re: Show us your builds!
You know what you need? An unnecessarily massive resource inefficient vine farm. 88 saws. 108 gear boxes. I realize after building it I should have switched the glass with the stone since you can't really see the water flows from the side. I suppose it would have a good view from the bottom...but I'...

Re: This mod is still as awesome as ever!
I've found myself playing a couple hours nearly every night for a couple of weeks here. I don't get much time to play but BTW is still my go to game that I love to play while I mull over life decisions or am trying to spark creativity for a home project or even work. Something about BTW relaxes me. ...

Back to what news sources are actually used by us forum ppl, I have found I like to use twitter. I follow the major broadcasting networks and local newspapers. Re: Hololens and its applications.... discuss
If you think it's going to be anything other than porn or games, I think you may have far too much faith in humanity ;) That's fair. It could be executed even terribly in the porn industry and it'd still be a hit... Seems to me advertisers /corporations have the $ to pay for demo models. Consumers ...

Re: Hololens and its applications.... discuss
I agree, modeling purely in a 3d view like that is exceedingly difficult. And there's no way the hololens can capture the tool pallet and precise dimensional control required for finished designs through gestures alone. I think the first application is going to be advertising and demonstrating a des...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
I love the hololens, but i agree that minecraft isnt its best application. 3d modeling /design is where it would excel IMO. However, how many people in the world understand and use 3d modeling vs minecraft? I bet demoing minecraft touches a broader market than 3d design and is more consumer targeted...

In case you didn't have enough overly complicated solutions yet... Egg drops on pressure plate. Sticky piston pulls pressure plate out of the way. Normal piston pushes egg into hopper. Sticky piston puts pressure plate back. Dispenser spits seeds. Profit. The redstone would be a bit involved having ...

What I've read is that the acquisition makes sense if you think of it as microsoft is buying a platform with 50 million plus users.I very much doubt their interested in updating the game as it is now. I'm banking on a minecraft 2 or expansion like spin offs and stand alones.

Can of air are awesome. Once your computer is 'aired' you'll run around the house dusting everything, they're fun! Plus the added bonus of freezing shit when you spray it upside down! I still frequent the forums although I am playing much less than I used to so I don't feel as if I have a lot to contribute therefore I don't post as much. I'm not playing because of other commitments in my life not because BTW has run its course. BTW is still my go to game even for 20 minutes when ...

Re: Yogventures blows a cool half mil
I don't understand the defenders of the yogs team in this unfortunate but expected disaster. Whether the game devs approached them or vise versa doesn't matter. The yogs team promoted and put their "marketing" weight behind an ill conceived, poorly managed game with a scope large enough to...

After buggering around my base overnight, I headed off to cull my cow herd in the morning so I could finally finish my water pump tower. (glue). Upon reaching my cows, I discovered an armored zombie in my cow pen. And no cows. That very hungry zombie consumed about 40+ cows. I figured out the zombie...

Re: How to Gain Courage to Progress
Mob traps. I have an obsession with finishing a mob trap that can process every over world mob. Obviously that requires vine traps, which requires a vine farm, and a water supply. And I want it above ground to look cool so I need water pumps. And I need gold for the gearboxes which drives me to a mo...

Re: Really nice explanation of mushroom growth and farming.
I don't think theres really an optimal harvest time for these because mushroom growth is so random xD you could pop up 4 in a minute or 1 in 4 minutes. For each individual mushroom, you're right. But for a fixed area there is an optimal point. Let's say I have a farm with 25 'seed' mushrooms. The 2...

Re: Really nice explanation of mushroom growth and farming.
The concept to remember is that mushrooms won't spread if there is more than 5 mushrooms of the same type in a 9wide x 9length x 3height area of the mushroom that is spawning. So best practice is to place the seed mushrooms 4-5 spaces apart and remove newly grown mushrooms regularly. You actually d...

Sweet! I've done something very similar myself in the past. I've been contemplating how to do a less resource intense version by combining outputs of bds instead of using 4 individual ones for timing but that concept still lives in my head.whitechaos35 wrote:Here is an automated pottery setup I just finished.

I'd suggest taking the link out of the op though. Many players who don't have forum accounts still view the forums for info. It at least makes it harder to find if the link isn't there.

I started a new world after the early game changes were done. I also had some changes in my rl priorities and free time. Since then, I've been playing a few hours a month to kill time here and there when I'm not otherwise preoccupied. As you can imagine, progression is very slow. But! The other day ...
