Re: Steam Sale Season

I literally just came in to mention Kingdom: New Lands. The mechanics are a nice blend of new and old and launching that damn boat was an adventure in itself.

Being guided by the ghost of my own failure was a nice touch as well

Re: Sci fi and love

edit: I can't believe I forgot The Expanse! Rock hard science fiction with Blade Runner aesthetics set in a future on the brink of intra-system war, with the common rabble of the belters caught between the elites of old Earth and Mars. If you've not looked at Killjoys yet, it may be the closest we'l...

I like to dig tunnels under the rivers I need to cross. Sometimes I add glass with a torch underneath to backlight squid from the river bed and then snipe them out of the water

Re: Secondary bases

One of the top priorities when I set up a base, respawn or otherwise, is to dig a ha ha, with cutting back nearby trees to clear sight lines being a very close second. After that it's covering any bodies of water to remove any last possibility of succor for mobs suffering from terminal sunburn. Auto...

I forgot Duck Tales, Whoo-hoo!

Update on the Starmade thing, i was reading through reviews and apparently the demo on Steam is still the entire game. The 'full game' is there for people who want to donate toward development and it will remain so until the game has left early access.

Happy J.O.I. day!

This is a day when many people launch things into the air and celebrate as they explode. Five years ago, humans launched a thing into the sky that we really don't want to see explode. SgEsf4QcR0Q At closest insertion, Juno will be travelling at 250,000 kilometers per hour, five times faster than New...

Re: Steam Sale Season

I picked up and ran through the newer Saints Row standalone. At three bucks the cut scenes made me laugh and the flight mechanic held my interest long enough to get 80% completion. Kingdom was another good, shorter experience. I put in a few play throughs and still didn't beat it. I can tell that wi...

That covers pretty much any game for me when stealthy ranged combat is a viable option. Not getting attacked in the first place is the only reliable way to remain not dead in my book.

Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

So we know that Targaryens are pro incest, for reasons, and we know that Daario is a pretty boy warrior with long shaggy hair. I wonder if these things are foreshadowing. Quite possibly not, since George has shown a fondness for generating loose threads in order to cut them off rather than tie them ...

Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

You know you're dealing with master storytellers when you've seen an event coming months in advance, see it building up since the beginning of the episode, and it still leaves you satisfied when it happens. That entire sequence was beautifully filmed and you could tell it was crafted with passion. A...

Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

One other thing I'm seeing are complaints about the banality of Ramsay's flat character arc. It seems to me that the stories involving Ramsay were never about him at all. They were about Sansa, and tangentially Theon, and how they acted in the context of the Bolton treachery. He was never meant to b...

June 16, 1816, rather than face the prospect of another boring threesome, a young woman asked herself the questions "what if modern science discovered a way to reanimate the dead? How would that affect the world? What would happen to the first reanimated being?" Mary Shelley wrote down tha...

Most fantasy authors are rearranging Tolkien's furniture. The parallels to tabletop RPGs is that they tend do the same thing. I wonder if there is any wyldfire left underneath King's Landing... I do like Martin's other works. The Wildcards collaborative series that he started and curates is one of t...

Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

I was referring to the Hound tho. Seeing him turn revenant is going to be interesting and they put a hell of a lot of effort into his character development over the course of he series. By "revenant" do you mean undead here, in the style of Jon Snow? I didn't pick up on any clues that ind...
