Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week Of Jan 14th)
Yes, that's right, beacons are back and better than ever :) Oooh, I may actually look up how to build one now! I haven't even gotten as far as beating the enderdragon yet. Whenever i decide it's time to go looking for a stronghold, i decide i can't be stuffed farming the enderman and get back to wo...

Re: Hoppers Vs Hoppers and other redstone stuff
I've actually changed my tune a bit in regards to the "Signal Strength Matters" feature of the new redstone mechanics. It does give some capability to fine tune a lot of stuff which will be nice. I would prefer a lot of it to be based on the number of slots filled rather than raw number of...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
So, Trapped Chests can now MAGICALLY send their signal through a wall. Is it me, or are they adjusting the Redstone mechanics to suit a singular purpose of making a hidden trap?
I'm not impressed.

Re: What is BWF?
I'm wondering if the only solution here is for the all mighty Notch to step in and apply a smack down. I think he would be disgusted with all of this behaviour and the opinion from the person that created the game in the first place would have the greatest weight.

Seems like a feature implemented specifically for Sethbling.Padfoote wrote:Dinnerbone posted an interesting picture. It seems that mob spawners can now be placed in minecarts. As a warning, the picture is quite large.

Nostalgia: Electronic Games from 80's
My Parents were going though some old packed away boxes and they found some of my old Electronic Games! They found 4 so far, but they said there might be more (like my old Donkey Kong one. SQUEEEEE!). Anyway, of the four they found, this is the most significant one: http://imgur.com/dyQjz How cool! ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Oh. here's a new problem. I already knew that the Comparator relays the signal with no delay (some people have created an infinite loop using this thus locking up the game. lolz) , but it also forces a block update every tick in front of it. Enough of these and your FPS / Server CPU load is gonna hu...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
This is what has pissed me off: Comparator. I get its redstone function. What i don't get is why when you put it next to a chest, it magically becomes a filled capacity detector. Why the hell haven't they made a special "Weighted Chest" that is made with a Weight plate instead? That would ...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
A little bit of "We really liked how these kind of mechanics worked in other mods like BTW" wouldn't have hurt them. I feel sorry for you FC. These are your good ideas and designs that are now being butchered and bastardized by Jeb and Dinnerbone.

Lets us know how we can help mate. I think this forum has a little legion of programmers from varying disciplines and languages that I'm sure can help you fill in any gaps. Wether it's money or resources, I'm sure you will find it in your community here. Personally, i think once you start work on RT...

Correct... but wasn't it Notch who gave the go-ahead and made the decision on how it was to be implemented. At that time, Notch was still in charge i think.MoRmEnGiL wrote: To be fair, notch had nothing to do with pistons, it was jeb's work entirely.

Re: Dinnerbone adds "Comparator". Curse or Blessing?
I'm actually not convinved that redstone needs an overhaul. The way it works, while quirky is for the most part consistent (except for the few dodgey things with the dispenser and pistons with block updates). I think the solution to this "redstone wall" everyone seems to feel is in creatin...

Re: Dinnerbone adds "Comparator". Curse or Blessing?
As I've often said...they're not designers. Yeah. They're modders. I mean seriously, the stuff they've been adding is a bit of a combination of some Redstone mods, Mo Creatures, etc. It took a lot of thought and consideration to implement Pistons which was originally a mod. It wasn't a rash decisio...

Dinnerbone adds "Comparator". Curse or Blessing?
You decide: https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/284366449420673024 Long story short, it looks like it works a bit like a transistor, changing outputs based on the strength of the redstone signal. This, while sounding cool, i think it's curse as it is adding a new overcomplicated mechanism to redst...

Here is my design. Unfortunately, I'm at work and i don't have any screenshots so you will have to live with this poorly hand-drawn diagram i scanned in. http://i.imgur.com/Eyn52.png I think the image mostly explains it but i will elaborate anyway. Re: Books: If only
I like the idea of stocking bookshelves with enchanted books to unlock the respective enchantments, but man, the idea of having to collect those books makes me want to cry. Well, that's where i thought the idea of "combining" books to make tomes would be good. As a wizard, one would think...

Re: Books: If only
From my knowledge of MC, the problem is in the meta data. While the bookshelf block doesn't use any of the rotational stuff, 4 bits isn't enough to represent the info needed. The bookshelves would have to be replaced / augmented with a tile entity to store the extra data, but you would then lose the...

after reading this topic http://www.sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=6526 I'm going to say this here because while it is an idea, it isn't a practical one that would ever reasonably be implemented. I have always found it strange how putting three empty books on a bookshelf seems to ha...

My favourite with BTW was the Superior Enchantment Mod: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1054768-superior-enchantment-system/ Use to work with BTW just fine, but the author was really busy and took ages to update to 1.4.5. Only just updated actually, so hopefully he will update to 1.4.6 pretty qu...

"Grow up". I concur. I dare say the main catalyst in the community in this mess has been the lack of a mature and ability to forming individual opinions. You might be a bit of a dick sometimes FC, and can follow a pretty hard line but funnily enough that is what has made your mod great. I...

Perhaps this thread should be locked. Emotions are running high, and we are all jumping to conclusions and left some of us on the defensive. I'm all for open discussion, but this topic has already left a bit of a sour taste (and is open for some nasty trolling too).
