Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki

I was looking at recent changes to the wiki and saw that. Didn't realize you already knew about it. I reverted the change, it's very unhelpful to remove all the content to replace it with "same as in vanilla".

Re: Conflict between mcpatcher CTM and Version 4.AAHHHHHHhhh

It seems to throw an error with smoldering logs, so it's probably a newly introduced incompatibility.

Re: Hacking games - Hacknet and Bitburner

The gameplay actually reminds me a lot of Uplink, which is a good thing IMO. Maybe a little more text than GUI based, but I definitely get a similar vibe off of it. My favorite parts are when they don't hold your hand and you have to go sleuthing around PCs looking for random text files where a mor...

It's definitely a cool game. A little too repetitive in early game maybe, but the final two or three missions are amazing.

Some cool game animation talks

All these talks deal with dynamic animation instead of static animation. With static animation I mean: you press button X, animation Y plays. First off, a video about complex animation from simple blocks, using just a few keyframes: LNidsMesxSE Next up, an introduction to Ubisoft Toronto's talented ...

Re: Fat is non-obvious in use

It's an interesting topic for sure. Just out of curiosity I looked up the guide I got my info from. This was posted I think a day after campfires: camp fire no fuel 2 minutes once campfire goes to small version you have 20 seconds until fire dies once campfire goes to medium version you have 3 minut...

Re: Fat is non-obvious in use

Holy huge reply Batman :) I think some wires got crossed here. My observation was that it's non-obvious without doing the math, what fat actually does. It's fairly evident from my post that I never did the math or I would've realized Sarudak's simple method of dealing with it. It just felt strange t...

Re: Fat is non-obvious in use

AFAIK you never want to store fat early game. It always represents waste. I would say that you might find storing fat to be of some value once you've reached the cauldron and sustainable food. At that point some fat reserves can serve as a buffer to keep you from hitting Hungry so easily. So the la...

Fat is non-obvious in use

Thordan and I were trying to explain to a new player how fat works and it suddenly struck me that I don't really know how it works or in which situations it renders a benefit. Sure, whenever I run into this issue, I crunch some numbers and figure out a rule of thumb, but it makes it so I don't gener...

You should try if you can reproduce the behavior in creative on a small scale build so you can share a picture of the whole thing.

Re: Hacking games - Hacknet and Bitburner

Don't forget Uplink, the grand-daddy of this genre. I still go back and give it a playthrough every few years. Yeah, Uplink is fun. It's the least "realistic" of the three, but probably the most polished. Uplink: more of a Hollywood-style hacking game. If you'd like the game to look a bit...

Hacking games - Hacknet and Bitburner

I know that a few people picked up Hacknet for free with Humble. I thought I'd open a thread to talk about it, as we play through. Also, I have another game in the genre (it's free) I've been meaning to share. https://danielyxie.github.io/bitburner/ It's geared a bit more towards programmers. This g...

Re: Question about regenerating vs respawning

HCS points There's supposed to be no such thing as "HCS points", we've been over this ad nauseam on this forum. You spawn in a completely random location within HCS range, not a pregenerated list of points. It does seem like there's a loss of entropy somewhere that makes certain areas mor...

Re: No more creepers? (Spoilers?)

During the sunday multiplayer event, the first night all 6 of us only had trouble with a single zombie and nothing else. There was a forest so vision was hazy but I'm sure only that one zombie spawned near enough to our work area to see us. At least 3 of us were above ground the whole night. Hypoth...

Re: Hardcore Sinkholes... again

The only time I've cheated in recent years is due to a sinkhole. There was this one patch of maybe 3 blocks of sand, I accidentally walked across it and it plummeted me down to 3rd strata (ravine on top of ravine). The resulting death made me ragequit as this patch of sand was right outside of my ba...

Not a death, but I was walking home to base around dusk, when a creeper snuck up on me. I hear the hiss, I jump away, it explodes as I'm in mid-air and it launches me on top of a tree. Here I'm sitting on top of a tree with one heart, no way to jump down from the tree without dying, as the world slo...

The idea is that there's not a lot of BTW streams on Sunday (except Whuppee lately, but still, it seems to be the best day to do it). We usually watch some shitty 70's and 80's anime, but I've been wanting to open it up to more ...
