Re: Custom Map for BTW - Seeking Input

Need help testing the map pre-release? I wouldn't mind putting in some time to try it out and let you know if anything needs tweaking.

Re: Blight: Peoples experience with it. [SPOILERS]

Well, i wanted the blight for sure, so i placed the portal and played TF2 for about 2 minutes, came back and by then it was already too late xD I know i deserved it and i regret all the things xD Yeah, if you want to create blight (or for that matter, even just an SFS beacon), you have to plan for ...

Re: KSP Resource System Set Aside / Multiplayer Added

Yeah, I'm with you there. I just can't wrap my mind around why anybody would want multiplayer in KSP. If they can think of a fun way to do it that will engage players for the long term, more power to them -- but any way I can imagine MP in KSP, it would make the game incredibly annoying.

Re: Cheating - Discussion

It's a side effect of the evolution of the mod man. BTW is a very different beast than when it started, and having a feature like HCS come in so far into its life cycle turned off a lot of the older players that were used to playing a particular way. Yeah, I can see that. It was basically just a si...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)

Read the whole thread, only person that knows how it works is Gilbereke and he isn't telling. Everything else is speculation, with reports of animals getting corrupted at near 100 blocks, and others safe with much less than that. I can't add anything that someone else hasn't already said, so I bump...

Re: Cheating - Discussion

You know, I originally started playing BTW specifically for HC Spawn :) I had been playing in Hardcore mode because I got tired of how ridiculously easy Minecraft was, and a friend told me that there was a mod out there that punishes death in a more reasonable way, namely by dropping you in a random...

Re: Blight: Peoples experience with it.

Yeah comments like this are just flaming, It wasn't my server. In fact I was the one on the server who spotted it. So here's an example based on a true story. You build an SFS beacon. It spawns blight, you log out. People keep the map loaded being on the edge of loaded chunks. You log in and see bl...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

My solution (I don't know if this is a cheat, if it is, please let me know) is to put a structural fuselage in place of your solid booster, and then attach the solid booster under the fuselage, rather then attaching it to the side of the rocket. That's a nifty solution and it definitely seems to wo...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

I made a small change, by the way, I used two of the grey batteries instead of the yellow ones. Would that be enough extra weight to make the take off impossible? Remember, extra weight increases the difficulty exponentially. Most likely that's your problem. It isn't just the takeoff from Mun surfa...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

There's your problem. Using smaller decouplers gives a more more room for a joint to flex, and when you're using 36-ton tanks on top of them, it's not all that stable. Well yes, but the problem isn't that the upper tanks are breaking off; the problem is that the solid fuel boosters (which aren't at...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Hmm. FlowerChild, I'd be interested to hear any tips you may have on keeping that rocket of yours stable. I do build (and use) rockets on that scale but I tend to run into two problems. One, before launch the solid boosters often just fall off the ship. Two, during flight they sometimes break off an...

Re: Blight: Peoples experience with it.

Blight isn't a danger unless its mature? Have you ever played BTW? Why yes, actually, I have :) It's a great mod. Blight doesn't destroy everything in its path until it's mature. If you can prevent it from spreading to (1) a water block on its level then (2) a lava block on its level then (3) a por...

Re: Blight: Peoples experience with it.

I came across the blight on the wiki today, and I was curious what people could share with me to avoid trouble with it later on. Is it like corruption in terraria? Where with enough work you can surround the corruption with incorruptible material and prevent its spread before you go into hard mode?...

Re: Building Mid Game

I'm curious whether you consider a redstone torch timer cheaty as well gil. I'm skipping all that gold requirement after all. Frankly I find all this talk about using in game techniques in a clever manner being "cheaty" to be a bit disturbing. There's more than one way to accomplish a goa...

Re: Mob Traps

Every time, without fail, either the Enderman gets stuck somewhere just close enough that he doesn't want to teleport, or he sees fit to teleport onto the roof. Not that this isn't dangerous...but my strategy there is to run quickly out from the umbrella and then circle back immediately. If you're ...

Re: "Smart" building ideas

I don't worry too much about hats when planning my farm. The way I see it, harvesting the farm is just another daytime activity until I get the chance to really secure my base. I put my farms on the water, and don't go near them till the hats go to bed.

Fishing rates

So, I'm working on an update to the Hardcore Fishing page, which is blank (currently). I've made an observation about fishing, and I'm considering adding it to the article. As follows: It seems to me, after having fished for a while, that the fishing rate during a full moon in the rain is roughly si...

Re: Mob Traps

Vegas, isn't that design extremely inefficient since alot of mobs will never find their way to the vinetraps and die. It's a bit inefficient but no, most mobs will in fact die in that design. I've played around with numerous designs, including one similar to Vegas's, and the levels empty pretty qui...

Am I the only one that really hates leaving junk orbiting all over the place? If I can't land it or return it, I do my best to save enough fuel to crash it :) Probably just my weird OCD.

Lol I can't help noticing, reading the threads on the KSP forum, that people seem to skip probes entirely. Why send a probe when you can send a Kerbal? They might as well have removed probe cores from the game entirely.

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Ok, this is probably a dumb question...but it's giving me some trouble. I can't seem to efficiently return to Kerbin from a polar Mun orbit. In other words, from an equatorial orbit I would burn at the far side of the Mun to get back to Kerbin -- but from a polar orbit, however I achieve it, I alway...
