i like the idea of getting oil from seeds ALOT. but using the oil as a fuel for lamps that can cut the bed rock fog. but they run out of oil arfter 5-8 in game days so that the player has something they have to maintain. Imagen. your happily mining away or exploring a cave or whatever then suddenly...

After all, it would only be an item. No need for block ID. So, maybe. Why not. But it would have to 1) use steel and an anvil 2) have a very low durability 3) not be recyclable in a crucible 4) be freakin' long to cut stuff (~obsidian ?) I play on peaceful 90% of the time....simply because of creepers and the damage they can do to buildings and constructions; that is a BIG NO NO in my book. To me that is just griefing and has nothing at all to do with survival. If it wasn't for that aspect, I'd be quite happy to play on the hardest...
