Re: Arcane Scroll Lore
I assume all of this is for the server (PK's) and the creation of lore associated with the new communities therein. I'll give this lore thing a try: Arcane Scrolls are Steve's research notes about the monsters they come from. Are Arcane Scrolls written in the same language as Ancient Manuscripts? I ...

Re: Boats in normal biomes
Of all the things affected by Large Biomes, amount of coastline and ocean size are probably the least affected, so Default and Large Biomes share these oceanic features. A little known fact is that Minecraft generates terrain in the form of "continents" which, in both Default and Large Bio...

You sure those are zombies? They look more like naked swamp-dwelling rednecks out to rape you... it's just like that one movie...jorgebonafe wrote:Escopeta. A fun little twist on the flash zombie genre.

Re: Next generation consoles.
The lack of tactile feedback is the main reason I detest touchscreens as an interface medium. I can't even stand to type on a tablet unless I really have to do so. What was wrong with the Palm graffiti system? Also the iMasturbate technically exists. They sell a fleshlight that straps right on your...

Ummm...dude, please refrain from making statements on my behalf. This isn't the first time you've done that, and done so erroneously to boot. I apologize for making my language unclear: I was trying to say hopefully that will be the indirect result of that new feature. Yeah, that really is a pretty...

Trivial? My God man. You must be an absolute god at BTW :) Oh no, I'm not :). I certainly die my fair share. What I mean is that, when you die, you can immediately get back on your feet again. Yes, you have to work your way through he early game again to get home, but it's simply like starting a ne...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of April 29th)
Well then if the "wind-up" idea makes it's way into BTW. I'll be crossing my fingers that it brings knock-back back to snow balls. I don't need to be able to spam them, just need one or two to knock those skeletons into the sunlight. Yeah, that really is a pretty cool emergent gameplay th...

Re: Hardcore Mode with BTW: Anyone Do it?
cut I didn't necessarily mean that Hardcore was a very good alternative to the normal gameplay. In truth, I don't play it very often, and I have my own main world as well where I spend the majority of my time and have been playing for years now. In retrospect, my statements were a bit rash, but I h...

Re: Hardcore Mode with BTW: Anyone Do it?
No, I mean I do know how to do that. I just don't. Same thing with switching to Peaceful mode -- I just won't. After I've cheated I just get this disappointed feeling about my whole world. I can't help constantly wondering whether I would have gotten as far as I did if I hadn't done that. I run my ...

Re: Reference for Buddy Block Use
A strange thing that keeps happening--and I don't know whether this is a bug or a known quirk--is that almost always the buddy block will trigger for no reason at all a few minutes after being placed. It seems only to happen when I am near by, however, and can be quite annoying with false alarms wh...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of April 29th)
Unless you're saying that snowballs no longer damage blazes at all, losing the knockback actually makes them more effective since you don't have to worry about pushing the blaze out over ledges where they drop your precious rod in a sea of lava anymore. True, but you forget that knockback also crea...

Re: Hardcore Mode with BTW: Anyone Do it?
I have to admit that I am also a bit guilty of this. I have never started a new world after dying in a normal world with HC Spawn simply because HC Spawn makes it like starting a new world, plus you have a chance of finding your old base, but I have played Hardcore because of the unchangeablility of...

Re: Reference for Buddy Block Use
well, the idea was that you could use a vanilla BUD switch to detect it, but obviously that idea is shot. I know the idea used to work but was extremely unreliable unless you had about 15 cisterns (its a random event) Now it makes more sense. Ah well, it was a good idea, but, nope, any state change...

Re: Reference for Buddy Block Use
Just saw an interesting idea proposed by Gates as an early game weather detector: to leave out a cistern to fill up with water to detect when it is raining and shut off a windmill. The rising water level would be detected by a buddy, which applies directly to this thread. Will test. I know emptying ...

Re: the awesome irony of recent updates
Things have indeed come full circle. I have done this recently too. I haven't been taking any wolves down into caves or mines due to their tendencies to hurt themselves and me, but I have definitely been dragging them along on long journeys and during small escapades at night. Also, this thread almo...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of April 29th)
I've found them pretty useful early game to knock skeletons out from under trees during the day. I may be wrong, but I do not believe that that will work anymore due to hardcore fist, since knockback is now linked to damage... very creative idea though. Again, I may be wrong, as I don't know if HCF...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.81)
My only negative comment is, since it's a change to the act of punching something, shouldn't it be Hardcore Fisting? :P Just one thing... Shouldnt hc fist could be called hc fisting? Why is it not called Hardcore Fisting? In this case the differentiation between the noun and present participle is o...

Interesting... buddy blocks do not respond when an adjacent buddy block is destroyed (they respond when one is placed or any other block type destroyed). I assume this is intended.
