Re: Loss in translation...

So I really like McDonald's food but I never order for myself because of my English. Usually my girlfriend orders. But I was feeling brave and ordered by myself. I tried to order a number 3 (quarter cheese) but when he told me what it was, I asked to double check, The way he described it i thought ...

Well it is April 1st this weekend, at this stage I wouldn't put it past them to turn Ocelots into Nyancats for the day, that's an urgent release right?

Looks really nice, has anyone compared the non-forge one to the main one? It says it still has all the biomes without the extra blocks, but some of the biomes seem to be defined by the extra blocks.

I'm sort of curious: Where does your computer stay? Mine's messy as hell, filled with empty glasses, and freshly microwaved pizza atm :) Om nom nom, now I want pizza for lunch. My wife and I like our house to be tidy and clutter free. My solution to this is to dump stuff in my office instead, so ye...

Re: The Walking Dead season finale (spoilers)

I actually thought the idea of turning the comic graphic novel (it really is graphic too), into a tv-series was itself cheesy, yes most everyone loves a good zombie flick no matter how cheesy, but they would never show on tv the level of mental torture that the novel shows, as MoRmEnGil said, it rea...

See, the basics for the tower of doom I've had in my head are as follows: A tower stretching the majority of the height limit between bedrock and top of the world. In the middle of the ocean, where there's a swirling vortex of water around it. Delicate train tracks coming up from the water to swoop...

Re: A Grand Personal Realization: I don't like programming

I like programming. I like designing beautiful code. I have even written code in the past just because it looks nice, that doesn't actually do anything useful. I sometimes program Sudoku solvers and stuff like that, just for the programming fun of it :) I don't like it as much as game design, but I...

Re: wz.isBlockSolidOnSide(IIII)Z(With crash report! No way!)

Ah, thanks. I was planning on adding mods that require forge(portalgun, powercraft, and some more), that's why it's added. And i did update it to the last, just it updates so often it's hard! So once better than buildcraft is updated would that be forge compatable? Better Then Buildcraft requires B...

Forge is incompatible with BTW, do you need it for any of those other mods? It's also best to install BTW last for best functionality.

Re: So I just won redstone.

Birch trees can be grown at a 100% rate in a smaller space than needed for pine/jungle, and don't get branches; main reason I use them in tree farms tbh. When it comes to automation, birch has a higher output over time than any other vanilla tree. See I saw that in a few posts but I also came acros...

Re: So I just won redstone.

Nice one Storm, it reminds me of the BTW tree-harvester thread we had going a ways back, but all of those systems required complex timing setups, this is much simpler with the block detection system and you just need to add a saw and block dispenser for saplings to convert it for BTW use.

Do Cats/Ocelots hunt chickens? Yup, they do. Ah cool, I've only seen one Ocelot so far, and was just wandering around with a wooden pickaxe at that stage so didn't stop to watch them. So far my closest Jungle doesn't seem to have any now that I finally have some fish. Does anyone else find it odd t...

I honestly don't understand why sheep breeding needs to be made any easier. You never have to kill sheep now that they regrow their wool, so making them the most easily-bred when they have no predators, not even the player, seems kinda excessive to me. I thought until now sheep were the only animal...

Hooray, this talk of nostalgia made me go and recheck and ScummVM is compatible with modern Android phones again, so now any Scumm based games can be played on it (Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, King's Quest, Gobliins, Broken Sword, Beneath a Steel Sky, The Dig, Full Throttle, Sam & Max...).

Yeah, my first computer was a commodore 64, so Wonder Boy (very similar to Alex the Kid), Gauntlet, Breakout and Ghosts & Goblins are some of the first games I ever played. Early PC gaming would be Myst, Commander Keen, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island series, Worms, I loved The Neverhood as w...

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.52)

Honestly, I thought this would be a lot easier to figure out. The use of Tallow and Hellfire Dust in the dynamite recipe suggests that the Hellfire Dust has acidic properties and is a substitute for the use of Sulfuric and Nitric Acid in the real world production of Nitroglycerin (with the Tallow p...

So if my definition of lag is different, (My Definition: massive lag spikes ~3 secs/Low fps) what's lag? Most people confuse lag with low FPS/performance issues. Low FPS is due to your computer not able to handle the amount of calculations requested to display smooth visuals and is due to cpu/memor...

No I have tried powering the things from all sides and none seem to work Then it's likely that the axles/gearboxes leading to it aren't running, either a gearbox is facing the wrong way, or there is a redstone signal disabling one. If it is neither of these, show us a picture so we can see what is ...

I'd say it's not about the difficulty in learning a language, it's about your enjoyment of it. When I started Uni, there were over 60 people in the 101 programming course in the first term, in the second term that had halved and continued to drop, not because the language was too hard, but people di...
