Re: Creepig's Ice Farm (V2.0)

Yeah, that would be an excellent way to handle it. I don't want mobs to persistent, unless I want them to (does that make sense?) Question is how that would work for an auto farm. Would there be breeding? If tame animals just sit there, that makes em pretty useless. I believe it has been said that ...

Re: The BC12 - an automated mining machine

I would assume the limitation is due to the 12 block pushing limit of pistons. This is an incredibly cool build, I'd love to see a video of it in action.

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

I believe the Better than Wolves mod is best as something that can be added to an existing vanilla minecraft game without creating a new world. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is currently possible. Better than Wolves is Minecraft Advanced. The systems that are added are complex, i...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Well the recent additions are certainly interesting. The bellows and the addition of Stoked Fire to the game certainly indicates an upcoming move in the direction of advanced metal processing of some sort. Glue has already demonstrated it's use as an alternate to slimeballs for sticky products, a hi...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Frankly, if I were in Notch's shoes, I probably would have just given the player an infinite fuel-source as a reward for making it to the Nether. Perhaps one that only functions that way *in* the nether to encourage travel and construction there...but still. By the time a player manages to get to t...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

That's a good point PatrickSJ. My one thought on that is that if a steam rail system is the goal, FlowerChild could be targeting creating an alternative the dysfunctional powered minecart. But you are right on that. Unless Flowerchild intends to add limits to how many mechanical devices a single wat...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Well the age of steam and the industrial revolution in general had a massive impact on our world. There are several themes that I can think of that Flowerchild could potentially tap for an Age of Steam: 1: Speed: Steam industrialization allows the production of products more quickly. It could drive ...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

-If the sound at the end of the video is indeed what I think it is, I am cautious about taking it too literally. A sound like that could allude to many different things. I am very interested to see what others have to say. Looking forward to tomorrow. I think I heard the same thing you did. As you ...

Re: Battosay's video corner

Just want to say, your videos are fantastically inspiring. Not only have you really put the mod through it's paces, you've also made your work space very visually pleasing. Thanks for creating them, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

I have to agree with Battlecat, but argue that instead of the Iron Age, it'll be the Steel Age that we enter next, but with a greater focus on machining and mechanization. Nethercoal is key here, and by smelting iron ingots in either the furnace or an as-yet introduced forge with Nethercoal will pr...

Re: Is there a mod compatibility list for BTW?

I believe that the Phoenix Terrain Mod would not have any compatibility issues with Better than Wolves since it only changes the behavior of the world generator. I haven't tested this yet, but I intend to as soon as PTM is updated to 1.7.

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

Personally, I'd also like to see the saw be used as the bottleneck into the next Age, which I think it seems to be, given some of FlowerChild's statements. He's said that dung is going to have a much larger use in the future (so get your dung farms going, people!) and since you can't make a saw wit...

Re: BTW: Design Philosophy

The discussion of design philosophy particularly fascinates me. One series of articles I read quite regularly is by a gentleman named Mark Rosewater, who some of you will know as the current head designer of Magic the Gathering. One of his particularly interesting philosophies on design is that rest...

Re: Say hello!

Greetings all! Nice to see this mod moving to a more controlled discussion environment, I was despairing about the state of the thread this week. I'm a long time lurker but occasional poster in the old thread, granted under my third choice forum ID over there. Looking forward to seeing what's coming...
