Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

I think a big part of it is that we're now in Payoff mode (the story HAS to go somewhere eventually. White Walkers can't stay across the wall forever) and we're seeing a lot of wrap-up with little new avenue for new stories. Combine that with the fact that the internet has plenty of books and episod...

Re: Hodor!!!!! - Game of Thrones spoilers

I don't get why the internet is in rage over this season, saying it's the worst one so far. I find this season to be the best one so far and every damn episode just keeps on topping that. It has a clear shift in speed compared to other seasons, and it's often difficult to tell what the actual time ...

Often "making of" videos ruin it for me. This time? holy hell. They actually charged horses at Kit?

It was one of the best episodes of GOT ever. I think a reviewer put it perfectly: few shows can open up with dragons, and then STILL outdo itself.

I got the impression the hound just barely pulled through. Though he does continue the undeath through Fire theme.
In that sense, Ice magic = undead and Fire magic = revival

Re: Gravity Waves Detected

Yeah, it was sooooo mind-blowing when I read that. This is like the Higg's boson of relativity. Honestly, it's MUCH better and MUCH more significant than the Higgs ever was. The Higgs is pretty much what we expected it to be and it didn't really lead to new science as hoped. But gravity waves? man ...

Re: Early Access. Your experiences.

My list: Ok-ish: Minecraft . If it weren't for BTW, i never would've sunk so many hours into it, as my love for it was rapidly dying before BTW became standalone. I got it dirt cheap (i believe 8 euros, pre-1.0 discount so it's still the cheapest game-per-hour i've ever played) which helps a lot. 7 ...

I actually appreciated that experience Oh i like that experience too, but there's a point where it becomes frustration. I have both a regular and a god-mode save, and i made the latter after i made a number of mistakes and wanted to figure out some plan first You see, i'm in 2170-ish and in trouble...

Re: Aurora, a 4x space game with a complexity comparable to

I've spent a couple of days giving it a bash - it's pretty damned good. I can see myself losing a lot of time to it over the next few months. Much easier to learn and get started in than DF. The biggest challenges are basically: *how deep does the rabbit hole go? I lost a battlegroup because appare...

Re: Exposed spoilers will bring swift death. The Force Awake

Personally I liked the similarities to A New Hope. I think they were well done and purposefully and tastefully added. Just enough to provide a bit of nostalgia without being too over the top (though I could have done with maybe a couple less similarities). I liked the similarities as well. Really, ...

Re: Exposed spoilers will bring swift death. The Force Awake

(big spoilers about the movie, no vague terminology to save you. You have been warned). the whole R2D2 thing at the end was a complete wtf, like where the hell did he get the rest of that map? It was in the empire's old records (hence the first order had it), but there is no reason I can see that R...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

Just watched the Anti-cheese edit of Attack of the Clones. Still think it's the weakest name of all seven (The clones aren't really attacking anyone). It mostly has problems that editing doesn't easily fix, like a new badguy that in retrospect seems like the good guy at first, but then is the bad gu...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

What do you guys think of all the fan edits that turn the prequel trilogy into a single movie? That exists? I did just watch the anti-cheese edit of The Phantom Menace, which manages to significantly upgrade it from hate/cringe to "ok". It's still not a great movie, but it's significantly...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

This whole line of thinking, is based on the fact that the 2nd and 3rd movies were changed because of the rabid fan hate for Jar Jar. The prequels got such hatred because GL caved to the pressure of an audience thinking they knew what they wanted. Is there any actual proof of this? I don't hate jar...

You should really read the rest of the thread :p i actually did. It sounds much better on paper. I do believe the Prequels at thei...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

I'd vote for around 6 feet under, but maybe 8 would be best just to be sure :) sounds about right. So I've been thinking about viewing order yesterday. I'd say 4 5 2 3 6. Skip 1. Like, entirely. A few months ago i rewatched all six movies, and everything in Phantom Menace is pretty much summed up i...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

I'd rather see a shit story told in an honest way, with muppets in a bar It may not be common knowledge or anything, but the original star wars was made on a nearly non-existent budget. There was also pretty much no hope it would attract an audience, the executives didn't understand it. It only got...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

I don't buy this. Ever heard of the Monomyth? Anyway, it's not really what i meant. Cliche's vary from time to time, depending on what is popular. Star Wars was unique since it mixed various elements that no other movie before really did. Many movies that followed more or less copied the formula, w...

Re: StarWars 1-3 fan theory about Jar Jar Binks

I've seen the fan theory before and i don't really mind the idea, but i think it might be a bit too out-there. I think it would be cool to have a Darth Jar Jar but i think right now, fans need something to thoroughly ignore the prequels rather than a painful reminder of them I don't really have a fa...
