Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

I'm finding this latest update has improved the balance of glass. I've always found glass rather odd in that it is a material which performs the same basic function as dirt or cobble and yet gives you the huge advantage of being able to see through it when mobs can't (Nor does it trigger creeper exp...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

Fair enough - I don't min/max it, I just shove stuff on and take whatever comes off first time - as I said, I don't have the time at nights to be building perfect bookcase (or the inventory space) arrangements and gaming the enchantments - efficiency 1 (or whatever) is a nice little reward for a nig...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

What are you trapping mobs for if you're a nomad? Other than a little string for a fishing pole none of the mob drops provide any significant value that early in the game. I also find myself idling during nighttime while I'm in the nomadic phase. Not sure if there's anything to be done about that o...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

I've just killed myself to force a nomad situation. I've played 3 nights before finding my base and my observations with this latest patch haven't changed - JakeZKAM, please don't take this as a direct confrontation, that's not my intention, just wanted to present a balanced second opinion because I...

Re: 4.64 Balance Observations & Discussion

Indeed it will be. On these forums too. Is it a full moon or something? They're all out to play today! Anyway. I'm at the stage in my game where I got the windmill up and running but no bellows or saw yet and I have stopped pushing development to focus on base building - I like to play each stage f...

If you don't, why not design it in such a way that you can merely block off the areas that are finished. FC, what a brilliant way to start a Saturday! As ever, Thankyou! First t...

Well, this is it then, I challenge you all to bake your own mystery meat pie and post the piccy's.

Extra points for using your own rotting corpse as the filler ;)

Points deducted for soggy bottoms. No-one likes a soggy bottom.

I seriously love hearing your stories man. Really glad you decided to share some of them like this, as it's great to have someone around that I can relate to on this level. Well, the people who I was trying to avoid found me and are coming at me with the white flag, asking to talk it out and make u...

...and the best pie crust you can imagine. Not to mention that contrary to popular belief as long as it's not hydrogenized it's far more healthy than most of the vegetable oils people use to cook nowadays. If you truly want the finest pie crust, you need 5:1 shortening:cake margarine. Yes its hydro...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Me too, aren't mobs scared of rail tracks now, meaning that any place this cart can go, mobs won't? I may be wrong, I honestly don't have the energy to keep up with vBS these days. I unfortunately feel like I have to so that I'll know what to chop when the time comes ;) Why am I thinking of an endl...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

I'm still scratching my head as to what the intended use of that thing is, but probably shouldn't, as it screams of just being another feature tacked on for adventure maps. Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week Of March 18th)

Heh, it's possible to reach the nether on day 1 with a deep enough lava pool and ether a bucket or a higher water source than the pool! What good early access is without the appropriate equipment is debatable, I guess getting 9 netherrack is easy enough and can give you a boost with your first cauld...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week Of March 18th)

I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere, but has any thought been given to the effects that "Large Biome" maps vs. normal maps will have on HCH? I haven't gotten much of a chance to play MC/BTW at all in several months, but I've been following all the dev diaries and whatnot fair...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week Of March 18th)

Hmmm...although the trees and water falls do at least make me wonder. Anyone know if those show up in the same places in different instances of the same vanilla seed? If not, it may be a cause for concern. I did check specific known trees in a few of my test worlds, they were all there exactly down...

Re: Are minecarts still for mining?

With HC movement & Hunger, a decent railway system is even more enticing. In my old world, I had every one of my bases linked, you could go to a platform, punch in a code for any other station in the world (and there were getting close to 100), a minecart would be dispensed, stop at your feet. Y...

I realize you're a very smart person Shengji, and from a fellow father, have nothing but respect for you, but the IT troubleshooting part of me needs to ask, was all 16 the same type of mushroom? 1. It checks a 9Lx9Wx3H area for mushrooms of the same type. If there are 5 or more mushrooms (INCLUDING the center mushroom) the update is done, and nothing happens. This is either inaccurate, or the implementation of it is bugged. The farm I posted above is currently sporting some 16 mushrooms in...

No problems here! Did what I said I would do in the other thread with 10 worlds, not one hiccup in the world gen. Villages work as they should, love the little touches in the abandoned village! All quiet on the western front!

I guess I should have mentioned kickstarter and greenlight, but I very deliberately did not include them in this thread because: 1) There is plenty of media coverage of them, kickstarters especially. 2) The thread will potentially become a magnet for the kickstarter/greenlight spammers 3) Kickstarti...

Alpha/Beta/Early Access etc

Thought it may be useful for people to have a post where they can report their experiences with games paid for before the official release - they have been quite the gamble recently with three or four recent early access games failing to live up to the marketing (or outright lying), taking full pric...
