Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A1 Humped Camel) - NO SPOILERS

Definitely an update to give anyone a good e-boner. Love the swamp and early game changes to animals. Now I feel anxious about having to walk for my animals, but at least I'm very very...VERY well fed.

Re: How do I create a Beast™?

Once you've fed them rotten flesh, they become much better pets around your base too! Make sure to let them bond with your livestock too, they love interracial gatherings, and don't worry...fences will ensure they don't do anything indecent in your animal pens.

Right, I have to wonder, how in bloody hell did you get water through to the end.

Re: Nether Coal incompatible with the Steam Engine

Fair enough, I really don't see it interacting very well with your other mechanisms anyway, just a little nifty transport paired with chest carts...but I guess I'll enjoy my little steam engine while I still have it and hope I have the rails before your next patch XD

Nether Coal incompatible with the Steam Engine

While charcoal and coal work well with the furnace cart, Nethercoal does not. No mention of it in the Log so I thought I'd post here in case it wasn't an intentional limitation for balance purposes. As far as I'm aware getting powered rails is a big leap up (Gold Farm;Groth;Blood Wood Trees), and ha...

Re: The Worth of a Steam Engine

Well I got kinda iffy using unprocessed coal to power the cart after a bit, and tried Nether Coal on it. The results were...underwhelming.
It won't take nether coal. I tried rummaging around the changelog for it but found bupkis. Anyone know if it's intentional?

The Worth of a Steam Engine

Right, so following my debacle with chunk errors and having to make another world, I've come to the point where I have a rather short railway system from a nearby mineshaft. However, since a full gold farm is something that's yet in the making, I had to resort to...Furnace Carts. It's a bit less eff...

Re: Decent Auto-Backup Utility

Many thanks Gil and Yhetti, I'll take a look at both, see which one fits me best. I mostly play on Single Player though, so not entirely sure what 'git' is. I'm assuming it's for a server specific function at this point.

Re: Decent Auto-Backup Utility

I made a simple C# app that lets you back up and restore your world. I could set it up to do it every hour.... You want me to post it? (C# = Only works on windows. I actually switched to playing on linux, and it's pretty easy to just set up an alias like "btwbackup" that backs up your wor...

Decent Auto-Backup Utility

Right, so I'm not a big fan of third party programs when playing MC, but yesternight plunged me into chaos as a badly timed power outage plunged my main world into a smattering of corrupted chunks. in and around my base. Foolish person that I am, I tried to do some amateurish band-aid fixes which pr...

Re: Withering Advice

Fair point FC, it's just that there are so few 'boss' fights in this game, and I don't get much of a kick from building that I kinda want to savor each one XD Oh, it's entirely cool man and I certainly get the desire to impose additional restrictions on yourself during play, as it's something I do ...

Re: Withering Advice

Well thanks guys, but I really wanted to take the Wither on equal footing so to speak, it's why I mainly tried dealing with him with normal limitations rather than going over elaborate with my methodology. You gotta earn that first star y'know?

Re: Withering Advice

At first I thought you were trolling me remembering I needed gunpowder for splash. Then I checked the new brewing charts and found balls. Heh, should have known you'd think of that. Fair guess though, I kept dying while trying to chug down potions at critical health. Time to chance my third set of D...

Withering Advice

So I've finally gotten the damn Wither Skulls and summoned a lovely demon spawn in my world, but I've fought him twice now and I've only gotten him down to half health. I wear diamond armor with projectile protection and a sword w/ smite and composite bow and arrows with potions of regeneration, hea...

Re: BTW Mempries as 4 Year anniversary aproaches

I've only been with the game a year and a half, but it's definitely one that I keep coming back to no matter what. My most memorable would probably be a foolish trip during the hardcore darkness revamp before I realized it sucked all light. Such fun memories wandering skeleton/creeper/zombie/beast i...

Re: creative mode + random seed = cheating

All this assuming that the game is forcing you to do something. Most of the people who play BTW do so because they enjoy the challenge and creative concept of FC's game design, not because they want to feel forced into some aspect of rigid tomfoolery. If you want to cheat your game, that's on you. I...

Re: Stake and Hearty Stew

I guess the bowl cost really is a non issue by the time you get tree farms and saws, still it feels a bit...wasteful. I suppose it's still a good staple around the base though. I've tried playing with stakes as cranes, handles, and bells though, it's a really nice and underused piece. Makes the buil...

So I have two points of interest that have been gnawing away at me, namely...I've just discovered the aesthetic beauty of Stakes. What do you guys use them for? Before I only used them to mark out plots of land and stuff, but there are far easier ways to do that I found. And are there any thoughts o...

Re: Mating Villagers [Possible Spoilers]

Grats :) Thirty is not bad after all the towns you went through! That must have been a good bit of strip mining. Now begins the various farm builds. I am still debating on moving the priest all the way back or to continue on site. Mob farm builds are dangerous, giving me my first HCS is a long time...

Re: Mating Villagers [Possible Spoilers]

Thanks so much. I got my priest after like thirty diamonds. Surplus of Librarians now though. Mating the librarian with the local blacksmith yielded bupkis.
