Re: [spoilers] Mushroom farm designs
The design I use for my automated farm (though, it would work with a bit of tweaking as a manual farm as well) is to have a long row with a cross section like this, where - is a full block, and . is empty space: ------- -..-..- ---.--- -..-..- ------- Ah, the good old fashioned penta-pipe. I'd forg...

Re: Brown Mushrooms
Really, I don't at all mind being asked about the reasoning behind various design decisions if they're ever unclear, and am generally happy to talk about them unless they've already been discussed to death or act as spoilers for stuff I'm still working on ;) Personally I always enjoy reading about ...

Re: Brown Mushrooms
occasional fishing generates enough tasty sandwiches to affort manuel grinding. That's probably far form standart gameplay but it works. I usually find myself fishing as my first sustainable food. Re: Animals in 4.A (spoliers)
I tried the saving animals for later thing, but I found that getting suitable shelters/holes for them without already having some form of lure just wasn't worth it. My strategy since then has just been to pick a direction, and never walk that way until I have said lure.

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.A Dingo) - NO SPOILERS
Super excited to see a release again. I suspected it was only a matter of time when I saw the bug reports section start drying up, lol. A few questions, most of which I want to learn the answers through discovery. The exception though: should we be starting new worlds to experience the early game ch...

Re: are pre-wheat pigs worth the cost?
Yes, growing large mushrooms is the most efficient. Afaik they can however grow in a setup such as a saw tube though, allowing automation. I may be wrong though, it would be great if someone could confirm/deny this. I can confirm that the pentapipe does work as of version 4.99999A0F Marsupial!?!? a...

I hadn't really considered furnace carts before, but now I'm having many ideas of where I can use them. I think they can be topped up with hoppers, yeah?
Looking forward to when finals are over and I can start putting some of these thoughts into blocks.

Re: Android or Windows Phone?
If windows phone os is similar at all to windows 8, I personally would avoid it all costs. They've tried to create an interface that was usable with both keyboard/mouse and with touchscreen, and as a result it feels intuitive with neither. I can't really say that I'm a fan of Android, but I can say ...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.99999A0E Marsupial?!!!)
I think I've put more hours into BTW in the past three days than I did in all of October. The update to HCoD persuaded me to finally build a fishing platform, and so many things just fit together when I finished that. My food situation just about solved itself, I no longer find myself absently waiti...

Re: Hardercore of Darkness spoiler thread [SPOILERS]
This was freaking terrifying. Trekking back home after rustling up some fresh meat, and the sun starts dipping down. I think to myself "no big deal, base is just over that hill". And then the gloom sets in. Immediate panic. I managed to build a quick crafting table and get it down, but by ...

Re: Wrong version reported on game launch, or buggered insta
It was the b version.
Didn't find out what went wrong, tried a third time, no luck. Went for a clean install(on a fresh 1.5 jar) and it worked on the first go. No clue why, but at least it's working.
Thanks for the help both of ya's.

buggered install[solved]
I'm not normally one for mucking up an install, but I've gone through the motions twice now and each time when I fire it up the report is that BTW 4.99[...]9A0CMarsupial is loaded(rather than the A0E version that I have extracted on my second monitor). Is the version being reported incorrectly, or h...

Re: The BTSM/BTW divide
I'm going to try and detail my own personal feelings on the matter, given that they're different from what's largely been expressed so far. I find that Minecraft isn't so much a game, as it is a toy (a sentiment I've seen on these forums before), and that BTW forces it into a game. The added rules, ...
Re: FarSky
It's funny, as I came into it kinda expecting an underwater base-builder or something where you had to deal with flooding and such, which I thought was a pretty cool idea. Would just like to add that this does sound like a really cool idea, and I hope to one day see what your genius back-burner doe...

I don't think I've ever found it out of place on gravel blocks.
As far as sand goes, I've only ever seen it on beaches, never in deserts.

I've got a couple different points with conflicting 'opinions' on yay or neigh for MP. First, the technical limitations probably afford you a little more room than you think. What, no sweater thread metaphor this time? Oh well. Glad to read that RTH is still fermenting, and that BTSM has an added bonus to it.
