Re: My Feelings about pesamistic minecrafters. oh nooooooooo
My feelings about people that try to propogate drama centered around the modifications of an online game: Go curl up in a ball somewhere, and let the wolves have their way with you before you die and the materials that make up your body return to the earth; with luck something of value will be made...

Re: A terrain block that would spawn hostile mobs
I'm not sure messing with span rates is really in BTW's sphere. But what I thought about was using textiles to make a flag that would affect the spawn rates around you. A battle flag could increase the monsters spawning nearby, letting you bring yourself under attack. Other flags could change other ...

Re: Logic gates
I disagree. Once you know how to make the basic redstone gates the only challenge is making a room big enough to hold them. if you know you want an AND gate that leads to a FLIP FLOP then i don't really feel there's any difference in the experience if the AND and FLIP FLOP are each one block, or 30...

Re: Logic gates
[quote="BigShinyToys"]There are lots of mods that add Basic logic gates And some that add advanced gates like adders . ( I looked for links but failed sorry ) So the questions is then Q) would it cheapen the experience of building with redstone ? A) my personal opinion is yes . Red stone i...

Re: A way to raise water
Siphons. I can think of lots of neat ways to use a system that knew what height the water was drawn at, and would seek to get back to that level at the outlet. If the outlet emptied into a pool it would fill the pool up, it it just pointed into the sky the water could shoot out like a jet. I can't t...

Re: A way to raise water
Also someway to extend the horizontal run would help with moving water. Yeah, I want to make a romanesque aquaduct that brings water from the mountains to my town. But The 7 run, 1 drop ratio means you just can't move water very far. It's troubling enough to me that I'd like to see a solution that'...

A seed for Hardcore Buckets mode
A seed for Hardcore Buckets mode. Nothing very special about this seed, but there's a perfectly settleable valley for anyone playing with hardcore buckets on. It has water and lava up high, there are trees and desert nearby. seed is -1983323982 coords of valley are x -400, z 350 That's not terribly ...

Re: A way to raise water
Making it the default comes with a certain assumption that it is the way the mod is meant to be played. Therefore, I'd feel much more comfortable building features around that setting. At that point, there can't really be any complaints that I'm wasting resources on blocks that don't even apply to ...

Re: A way to raise water
I'm not trying to claim I came up with the idea of a pump. I just think it's something we obviously need, and therefore there should be a thread to discuss ideas on raising water. The simple way would just be a machine that drew in water in one place, and spat it out in another. But it would be far ...

A way to raise water
Now that the hardcore buckets option exists, I'd like a way to move water upwards.
What I hope is that Steve will invent the steam pump so I get get water to a cistern on the roof.

Re: Epic setting in next release :)
Pretty sure it's going to be something to do with how items interact with the world; I'm sticking with my guess that [some] items will float on liquids. Better water physics is one of the things minecraft needs most, I feel. But I don't think it adds up with the clues FC gave. How do you envision t...

Re: Epic setting in next release :)
I see a few clues:
modifying vanilla behavior
harder for advanced users
for technically-inclined players
[involves] the mod's tech-tree
Based on those clues, my guess is that redstone power can no longer be supplied from torches, levers and buttons but rather you need a mechanically powered dynamo.

Re: Uses of chainmail?
Can mobs critically hit a player? One difference between platemail and chainmail is that platemail had vulnerable joints. Perhaps platemail could be more vulnerable to critical hits, and chainmail less so.

Telling Time
Telling Time The clock is one of the oldest inventions. But it is wierdly misrepresented in Minecraft. You have the oldest clock (looking at the sun in the sky), and then the redstone digital clock. There aren't really any examples of the technology in between. In our own history we went through lot...

Re: A Question about Rope
I'l like a grappling hook that would act as an anchor that you could throw, or shoot with a bow. I'd like to be able to connect rope to an anchor at both ends, and have it hang down in catenary curves, and be able to make rope bridges. I'd like to be able to use rope as a lifeline. Assuming you kept...
