I f*cking hate JavaScript...

Okay, so I'm working on a project for work. It's going to be a webpage that displays a Google Map, with locations marked for each of our office locations. Each location will have a line, representing a link between that location and our central datacenter. Based on the state of the link connection, ...

True, but there was still that awkward transition period, wherein those who had built extensive minecart systems using glitch-boosters were left with broken systems (I was one of them).

Re: Automatic obsidian generator help

If I hadn't gone full-rtard and deleted my entire Youtube collection (the pain is nearly unbearable) I would link you to a build I created that worked as a dual-function cobble and obsidian generator. However, I will also agree with others that building anything designed around an exploit is just pl...

Re: I hit Update. Is there an official course of action?

Shameless self-promotion: http://sargunster.com/btwforum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4102 One other neat thing about Dropbox, is that it does maintain a "Previous Version" system, so, you can go in and retrieve a copy of the .jar file from before you clicked update. Basically, the same idea th...

Re: I'm thinking of doing an LP/Stream.

Don't immediately jump into an LP. Start with shorter, simpler videos, such as tutorials for basic builds using BTW, or just tours of existing worlds, where you can explain your methodology and thought-process. Once youtube gives you the green-light for over-15-minute videos, consider what type of f...

Re: Thinking of getting a desktop / PC.

Agreement with everything stated above. However, there is also a slightly more interesting tactic: Find yourself a fairly-cheap used PC, as long as it isn't horribly out-dated. If gaming is your primary consideration, bear in mind that, since the early 2000s a majority of PC games are primarily desi...

Re: Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality

This fic has been posted about a few times on these forums. Great read. I should go back and pick up where I left off. I do like how it incorporates "Nature VS Nurture" and how different Harry's personality could be, based on his up-bringing. Shameless self-promotion: I'm currently working...

I think the "complicated" idea stems from the lowest common denominator effect, and the mechanical system. I just found the continued mis-attribution of FC's grounds for leaving Forge to be rather lol-worthy.

Enjoying the Infamy

So, I probably could be finding more useful things to do while I'm at work, but for some reason, the Minecraft subreddit drew me in. I found this . Hilarious, especially given that it ends up cycling the same, tired old insinuations, all over again. EDIT: I would have joined in to pull some reverse-...

I am a bit confused. I cannot seem to get the mod to work AND be able to patch minecraft. Please explain to me what order to install the mod and patch minecarft with MCPatcher. Your best bet is to use OptiFine HD. However, please note that OptiFine causes some issues with the latest version of BTW,...

Re: [GUIDE] How to Keep Your Save Data Safe

It might be worth adding a bit on recovering corrupted saves due to crashes or what have you. Sometimes a corrupted world caused by a crash or a power loss can be recovered from a recent backup without having to roll back the entire world to whatever your last backup was. Often when a world gets co...

New(ish) Computer

So, my new job has netted me an interesting perk. I was at work last week, when my manager pointed out a computer next to my desk. "If you want it, take it." My response: "Okay." Con: It's an eMachine, and one from a few years ago. However, it has more potential than my well-worn...

Re: How much do you sacrifice for money?

If you live in the States, there are a number of website for organizations (state-run and otherwise) that can provide you with financial aid. You may have to pay the money back after graduation, and the debt can get pretty massive if you study for a field where it may take a few months to find work ...
