Re: candles lanterns and poop dye

I kinda agree with jackolanterns not being able to be made with candles, though honestly it's such a minor thing that I don't think it's really worth it, unless the recipe is completely replaced to use candles instead of torches. Which would still be really, REALLY 'meh' as far as new features go, i...

Re: Strange ways to play BTW

In my old world, I decided to try making a pre-iron expedition to far, far away, and just keep walking/boating until I found a village to call home. It ended up being a wheat village, and having renewable food that early made the early game a hell of a lot less stressful without the constant 'this i...

Re: This mod is still as awesome as ever!

Assuming you are playing on a server with your friends and not on your own, I'd be interested to know how you guys deal with hardcore spawning ? Once you get to the nether, the surviving player can toss a pile of soulsand into the air in the overworld, which will point you in the direction of the m...

Re: Swamp Mobtrap - Item Sorting

You can also just destroy the sticks by putting the bones and sticks in a crucible. Crucibles will delete the sticks, but not the bones. Wood is usually not that valuable, anyway, and plus you already get sticks from bows. Also, if you haven't already built your mob trap, you can build it above sea ...

Re: [spoilers] Mushroom farm designs

I'm looking for a timer circuit to help me automate the water flush. Have renewable iron, but no endstone yet, so no buddy/detector blocks. Probably your best bet would be an item despawn timer. Otherwise, you could use a turntable nested in another turntable, but that would be somewhat expensive a...

Re: Arts and Crafts

Someone asked me in PM how I did those portraits, I wrote a small little thing about it: *Spoiler snip* I can't stress the intimate knowledge part enough, it takes a good bit of training for your eyes to be able to detect how facial volumes work together. I'm not an expert at it yet, but eh. That p...

I would also just like to emphasis that it'll be easier to light the caves AFTER the mob trap is built, rather then before.

Re: What to do next

You guys seem to be forgetting that wither skeletons spawn differently from in vanilla. FC changed the spawn rules for fortresses at some time in the past IIRC. Youtube won't have the answer for you. Can you be a little more specific? I know that nether mobs no longer spawn on non-nether blocks, bu...

Re: What to do next

To help you along with figuring out how to get power in the nether in a way that isn't too apoilery (I assume you don't want things outright told to you), try thinking of what happens when air is hot. Also, I definitely reccomend using cement for nether fortresses rather then slabs, things will go a...

Re: What to do next

I can also attest from experience that using cement in large areas in the nether is a very bad idea. Groth is for the open nether, cement is for inside nether forts. If you really insist on using cement, though, you can place down a grid of slabs to prevent ghast spawns, though I would imagine this ...

Re: Amalga: Co-op - V4.A1 Humpdated Camel

So, every time I log in, I get disconnected after a couple minutes. My guess is that Puerto Del Sol (Which is where my character currently is) is just sending too much info through my shitty connection through my neighbor's wifi (Used with consent, I should add) and it's just timing out each time, s...

Re: [spoilers] Mushroom farm designs

The design I use for my automated farm (though, it would work with a bit of tweaking as a manual farm as well) is to have a long row with a cross section like this, where - is a full block, and . is empty space: ------- -..-..- ---.--- -..-..- ------- The empty space in the center is actually meant ...

Re: HC slime stories & discussion [spoilers]

Has anyone tried breaking the slimes down into globlets and then hitting the lot of them with splash potions or dynamite? Perhaps a bit overkill but what else are you going to do with those splash damage weapons - now there's an excuse. Slime hunting as a sport sounds like a lot more fun with the n...

Re: HC slime stories & discussion [spoilers]

Just wondering, does anyone else find the new small slimes excessively difficult to hit? It seems like the combination of their faster jump timer and smaller hit box has really done a number on their ability to dodge attacks... Their jumping patterns also feel erratic and unpredictable, but that may...

Small magma cubes still escape enclosed rooms.

I've been working on the sorting system for a nether mob grinder on my server, and, thus far, I have died four times (three of which were after one-humped camel was installed) from small magma cubes escaping a fully enclosed kill zone without diagonal corners, and with the saws above hoppers. I thin...

Re: HC slime stories & discussion [spoilers]

Another thing I noticed is that, when a medium/big slime dies near full blocks, some of its children may spawn inside the blocks and suffocate. This might be related to the saw issue. You can also hit slimes through blocks with a small width, such as glass panes, even though they're on the other side.

Re: Quackers Friendly Coop Server [Whitelisted]

So, at a time when I was the only person on the server, I did a little bit of testing on the spawn chunkloading mechanic. Apparently, in multiplayer, things seem to work the same as vanilla, where a player has to be in the overworld for spawn to be chunkloaded, which might be a bug. I would like to ...

So, after talking to a few people, it seems not everyone is aware of what a spawn chunk is, nor its significance. So, I'll go ahead and explain here for everyone's reference; - The game will always keep all chunks within a 128-block square radius loaded, presumably at all times. I have never tested ...

Re: Quackers Friendly Coop Server [Whitelisted]

So, I was surveying the spawn chunks just now, and discovered that there is a large strip of undeveloped land that is also about half of the spawn chunks in the server. Mainly because of the clock tower day/night syncing limitations, as well as the fact that automation works best when it's a relativ...

Well, personally, I've kinda caught on that you like making small changes that make a big difference over large changes that make the same difference, so I tend to expect that talk like that probably means it's going to be a little tweak rather then sweeping, epic changes. Cement over the nether? Be careful, ghasts can spawn on any material, includig stone. Nether groth is more useful to remove nether spawn. Mistakes were made.
