Re: Regarding stone and tedious repetitive tasks

I found myself trying to save chisels as well. After a bit of gamey stacks and shuffling things around I realized, I don't really need to do that. I made the mental shift to use up chisels all the way rather than treat them as renewable and found it much easier on myself to manage.

Dang Batto. That's pretty sweet. Also totally jealous you've got a high water and lava source within spawn.

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.B0000001) - NO SPOILERS

Are you seriously doing the above? If so, I'll patch in an alternate method ASAP, as that's really not what I intended there. Well, I started using platforms early game post saw because it was a non-gravity block and I didn't have much iron to invest in a packing machine at that point. I decided I ...

I'm excited to see how this continues to progress! Thanks for the update. Especially for the wicker weaving change, I'm able to complete my platform based bridge now.

Re: 4.B00 - Vegehenna Spoiler thread

I think I figured wheat out and the purpose behind it's change. Wheat doesn't regrow from the 'stalks' even with bonemeal. The 'stalks' can be eaten by cows (maybe others, haven't tried). This gives us the ability to rotate animals between fields as we harvest the wheat part of our crops, then cycle...

Re: 4.B00 - Vegehenna Spoiler thread

Has anyone figured out how to get wheat seeds? I've been using surplus old seeds, converting them to wheat seeds, to start a new wheat farm, but I haven't gotten a single seed from it. I've harvested over a dozen so far with no luck. Also, does the wheat plant stop growing when you harvest its top?...

Re: 4.B00 - Vegehenna Spoiler thread

That was actually in Animageddon, but I believe you're the first to have spotted it :) Ah cool! I thought it was a nice touch! So far the time I've been able to spend with the last two releases makes the animals feel more like entities that are also struggling in the world to survive, rather than e...

Re: 4.B00 - Vegehenna Spoiler thread

I'm pretty sure this is new. I relocated my chickens as I was making space for wheat farms now requiring adjacent water channels and one escaped. No big deal I thought. Until the escapee began eating all my growing wheat seeds. So that's a thing now.

Pigs also eat pumpkin blocks.

Re: 4.B00 - Vegehenna Spoiler thread

I can confirm I also get old seeds from harvesting. Could have something to do with using the "old planters". In case you didn't notice yet, seeds are now "old seeds" and have a conversion recipe to "wheat seeds". Planters are different. It's now called "planter wi...

Re: 4.AFFFFFFF - Animageddon Spoiler Thread

I really thought I'd prepared properly (my base is at spawn). I expanded my wheat farm, built a pumpkin & watermelon farm at spawn, built large enclosures for all the animals (waited forever for all the grass to grown in), culled my herds all down to a pair each, with a couple of separate milkin...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki

While technically possible, a cauldron (and subsequently a saw also) aren't particularly feasible without netherrack. Not sure if that would be considered true anymore with the campfire. I've also always used a cauldron as soon as I can spare the iron in order to collect millstone outputs. It's a p...

Re: New Release! (BTW 4.AFFFFFFF) - NO SPOILERS

A real disclaimer rather than "nothing to worry about?" fffffff... indeed! I've never felt the need to continue on the previous version to 'prepare' for an update before but I might do so on this one. I'm currently many thousands of blocks away from my animals which are all located in load...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki

You may have figured out how to structure this already but here's a stab at organizing the progression for early game guidelines. My thought here was to organize things based on milestones that drastically change game play or open up a large portion of the tech tree. Characteristics are sort of like...

Great release! This stretches out the abundant food in the game a bit, I like it. Looking forward to seeing how this gets automated.

One side note, are sheep supposed to drop wool blocks when sheared with this release?

Re: Blind Ahhhhh Start to Mid Game Tech (so far)

Thanks for that man! I appreciate the detailed feedback. -Dirt and gravel are quite different for pathing, as gravel provides a movement bonus. I often save my gravel for paths as a result, whereas I tend to use dirt as filler. I completely forgot about the bonus. Thanks for pointing that out! Sorr...

Blind Ahhhhh Start to Mid Game Tech (so far)

I jumped into Ahhhhhh blind shortly after it came out. Along the way I had to check on a couple of specific things but for the most part found the changes to be reasonable to figure out given my experience with the mod. The following is a list of things I noticed while playing up to my current progr...

So...uh... my base caught on fire. I lost pretty much everything. Needless to say, I'll be rethinking how I build. I really wish I'd grabbed a screenshot in the middle of the fire fight. Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)

I have acquired diamonds for the first time since the hardcore early game! I feel more accomplished getting this far than I did with automated sfs in previous play throughs. Diamonds used to be a big step in the progression, but now it feels like a giant leap. It's cool. Nice job FC!
