Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
(also what the hell is with the Usage crafting recipes? do people actually like those?[ie: What the item/block can be used to make]) I think it's quite useful to have a list of things an item can be used to make, so that you can see what it's useful for and why you might want to collect/create it. ...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
Brick ovens can start a fire, but only in a small range - I think as long as there isn't a flammable block within one or two blocks of them, you'll be safe.
If there is and it catches on fire though, then the fire will happily spread to the rest of your base, of course.

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
I've added a couple vanilla items to the wiki: http://sargunster.com/btw/index.php?title=Cobblestone and http://sargunster.com/btw/index.php?title=String (lots of red links for now, indicating work to be done) I'm deviating a bit from the standard of other pages on the wiki and following more closel...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
As a small first step to making the wiki more friendly, I've added the ability to include information about filtering and buoyancy in the infobox for an item. You can see the results live at http://sargunster.com/btw/index.php?title=Dung . (Let me know what you think of the design for the filter ico...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
It's been a long time since Better than Wolves made the transition from "mod" to "total conversion". The wiki was created with the purpose of documenting the additions and changes that BTW makes from vanilla Minecraft, but that's become more and more difficult in recent times for...

Re: Invisible Hostile Mobs on Non-Hardcore Spawn
I was browsing through Notch's old blog posts and found this one, which seems to be describing a problem identical to this one that was fixed. It's really old, from back in alpha, but I thought it might be of interest just in case the problem could be related: https://notch.tumblr.com/post/169069897...

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
The short answer is, whenever people decide to update it. I'll probably work on that some eventually, but I haven't yet because: I don't want to put complete spoilers out there so early Despite watching several streams, there are a lot of things I don't know still I've been pretty busy lately FC has...

Re: No audio but mod is working
One thing I noticed when freshly installing Minecraft and BTW a couple weeks ago was that for the first 5 or 10 minutes or so, there was no audio and then it just started working on its own (maybe after I exited and reopened the game once or twice). If you haven't already, maybe try leaving the game...

Re: How to set up Minecraft skins using the config
In case you're not aware, this will work in single player, but not SMP. Define "not work". It should work just fine, but everyone on the server will look like you. Are you experiencing something else? That's what I meant. It will work in the sense that it will replace the Steve skin with ...

Re: Dirt Slabs have wrong colour with MCPatcher
I think I've found it. Yeah, that's the part I was talking about. Forgive me for not explaining it better, I was quite tired when I wrote that post. As for mcpatcher, it works by doing a very granular "find and replace" routine on the java bytecode, which is why it's been so robust up unt...

Re: Dirt Slabs have wrong colour with MCPatcher
I looked into this a little, and I think I found the problem. It's nothing to do with RenderBlocks at all. MCPatcher has some BTW-specific code in it that tells it to treat the dirt slab like a grass block, and a recent change to the FCBetterThanWolves class meant that it wasn't able to find the ID ...

Re: Dealing with ravines
I tend to play it as safe as possible, so I always explore from top to bottom. My first priority is building platforms along any high-up ledges, lighting them up as well. Any caves along the side I either block off or fully explore. I've found that the easiest way to die when caving is to have somet...

Someone on the BetterThanWolves subreddit posted a program that automatically installs BTW for you - you just have to supply it with the .zip file. Re: BTW Beginner's guide on Wiki (Help needed)
I've added some pages on the wiki for the new items introduced this update. I also added a note about pond size for fishing and changed the anvil recipe in the beginner's guide, although the section really has to be rewritten because it still talks about using steel to create an anvil. If anyone has...

So... this version made me realize that the previous two version numbers had puns in them. Somehow I never questioned the meanings of "humped camel" or "timing rodent" until now.

I enjoy Video Games Hot Dog. I don't know if I'd recommend it to everyone - their sense of humor is a little niche, in my opinion. Still, they talk about a lot of games and have interesting things to say about them.

Re: Weird hitbox thing
I've noticed that before too. It's a vanilla bug, and seems to happen any time you have a partially transparent block surrounded on all sides except the bottom. It's actually a lot more noticeable with blocks that don't give off light themselves (e.g. buttons, levers, upside down stairs, etc.) since...

Re: Gathering Emeralds
If you are going to mine for them, keep in mind that they only show up underneath mountains (so you'll have to watch out for silverfish). They only show up as single blocks, not in veins, though, so it's probably not worth it.
