I think I really agree with Dawnraider. The jiggling of the item is probably what gets to me about it most.

I'd love to assist, but I have no idea how useful I could be... I can do some of the programming, but I can't promise it will be wonderful or make sense.

Huh, that's a bit of a surprise to me. Personally I really dislike it, because it really throws off the precision of block placement. I guess it just distracts me from the game. But, each to his own, I suppose!

Yeah, I turn it off myself too, and nearly everyone I've spoken to is annoyed by it.
