Re: Minecraft is getting its own mod API

I think someting else that might get overlooked, is the fact that it will be much easier to install mods. (probably...)
That would increase the amount of players using mods. I good thing in my opinion.

Minecraft is getting its own mod API

Recently posted on the Minecraft community site: http://www.minecraftforum.net/news/344-notch-steps-down-jeb-takes-lead-developer-position-for-minecraft/ Notch has confirmed that Jens Bergensten (better known to the community as Jeb) will now be the Lead Developer for Minecraft, going forward. In general ive found that text based medium of communication seldom does people justice.
Its so limiting in bandwith. Communicating is so much more than just the words.

Re: Considering dropping Forge

Well for me it comes down to this... Im the type of user that mod the hell out of Minecraft, adding as much functionality as possible. With BTW, BC, IC2, and RP2 i can do pritty much anything in the world. So i guess, (for me atleast) it comes down to how much functionality you want to add to BTW. I...

Re: Better Than Release?

I was referring to the actual act of crafting. Hmm... but then again there are all possible loops to abuse with such a system. Bummer, it sounded good. :( Keep in mind that the "experience" system in Minecraft is a very odd one in terms of how experience is traditionally viewed in games. ...

Re: Better Than Release?

Or you could incorperate experiance gain directly into the building process. And have it apply to all building processes you do, and not only mob traps. That by the way, are passive once they are done. In my mind thats kind of lame. Its okey for resourse gathering, but experience gathering.... You ...

Re: Better Than Release?

Thats unfortunate. To me its building the mob trap and seeing it work, that is the reward. To me the main drive in this game is building things. And i thought it would be a cool game mechanic to reward more crafting. (gaining experiance from it) The way I see it, the system I'm thinking of rewards ...

Re: Better Than Release?

Sorry guys, but I consider mob traps/towers or what have you to be a rather integral part of Minecraft and the mod. This mod has pretty much always revolved around the automated systems that were possible in Minecraft and providing ways to improve them, mob traps included. Building mob-traps is fun...

Re: Better Than Release?

Ps: And while we are at it, why limit enchanting to "tools"? Why not make machines and other things enchantable? That's an interesting thought. A furnace that works more quickly, a gearbox that can send mechanical power further... There may be some difficulties coding a lot of them, but i...

Re: Better Than Release?

About the experience system: Id rather have it completely removed from mobs altogether. Automating mob grinding just feels like patchwork to me. I personally don't play minecraft to grind mobs. Id rathet have it tied directly into the craft system. This makes more sense to me. You use experience fro...

Idea about the steel arrows and bow

FlowerChild i think you mentioned that it would be a pain to make the new bow mechanics work properly with your steel ranged weapon. So why don't you make it a Crossbow instead. Fire off the bat with no backdraw animation. Would that be possible? As an added bonus is that it would make sense from a ...

Re: Any tips on moulding/panel/corner placement?

RedPower has a great system for paneling and such. At precent its broken in RedPower2, but in minecraft 1.7.3 you had a preview function that showed where the block would be placed. Eloraam might give some hints at how such a system might be done. Or just copy it, if she agrees. But i don't think Fl...

Ive downloaded the 0.2 mod version several times and i get corrupt archive every time. Is this just me? I think a personal statement from each forum user would be a nice touch to be honest. If it requires validation or similar though...I don't know what kinds of effort would need to go into setting it up. If it's simple and wouldn't take sarg too long...I guess it'd be his call. Oh i didn't mean a pe...

A new idéa for forum introduction.

Ive been thinking a bit on how to minimize hostile forum interactions, and people who are to lazy to try and understand others feelings. What if we changed the "confirmation on not being a bot" message, to rewrite (clarification: as in writing a copy of a text) a part of text where you pro...
