As per title. Grass slabs cannot currently be crafted and waiting for them to grow can be tiresome.

When a grass slab is harvested with a silk touch shovel it yields a dirt slab.

A few releases ago, I noticed this change:

Removed melon slice to melon block recipe so that they can't be compacted into an easy to transport food source without the use of a silk-touch enchant.

Melons drop the melon block when broken by anything, so...?

As per title: the battle axe is effective on all types of stone slabs/double slabs. However, it doesn't allow them to drop.

Ok, found a witch hut at last :D
There is a rail running 2/3rds of the way to the portal, and a covered path for the remainder distance (it has rails, but no powered ones). Of course we need to set up a witch farm now :P
It ends up about 8000 blocks out in the overworld.

Definetly agree with you there. Soul bottlers are the most versatile type of machine, in that there are so many different types: turntable based; self powered; compact; ridiculously oversized; I could go on :)
