Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
I've decided that I will be making a page for each item but if they're best referred together as one page, then the individual items will be a stub with the recipe for use as a reference. For example, while there's a "pickaxe" page that has complete info about what each can mine, there wil...

Re: Block Dispensers and Work Stumps
Nah, not regular stumps, I mean the ones made into crafting tables, which is how I know they're internally called "work stumps". FC knows what I mean.

Block Dispensers and Work Stumps
Block dispensers can be used to pick up work stumps as intact blocks, which can then be freely placed down anywhere. I don't think this is intended behaviour because Silk Touch axes can't do this, and picking up a non-oak work stump converts it into an oak work stump, and it massively devalues the s...

Hoppers fill Brick Ovens with many items
Using a powered hopper over a brick oven seems to bypass the normal rules at apply when putting items in by hand. You can put in multiple items, as well as put in items that you couldn't put in normally. It's not gamebreaking, but you can use it to smelt stacks of ore chunks without removing them, w...

Just noticed a new version came out. Installed 4.ABCEEFABb and the crash is still happening. ---- Minecraft Crash Report ---- // My bad. Using a fire charge on a clay oven crashes game
Was just experimenting for the wiki and came across a consistent game crash when you use a fire charge on the bottom half of a clay oven that has been filled with a log. Was hoping to just burn the contents of the oven instead of the whole universe. ---- Minecraft Crash Report ---- // Oh - I know wh...

Thanks!
I'm starting at Shafts and working my way up the tech tree making pages as I go, it's strangely therapeutic.

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
Yeah, that breakdown makes sense to me. One ambiguous area, I think, is the current "Hardcore Modes" page (and various related pages in that category). In general, those pages are pretty messy and I think suffer from being hard to navigate if you don't know what you're looking for. That's...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
Yeah, I'm totally on board with them needing to be tended more often, I've learned from my mistakes and I'm fairly consistently surviving while using them, it's just more of a visual feedback thing and the feel of using it when it was unfamiliar. The right strategy (e.g. putting in 7 sawdust or what...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
So I'm a crazy person who plays this on Hardcore Mode and have done so for several years, and I'm going to say that overall I really like the changes. Fundamentally for me I think the big improvement boils down to the fact that there aren't any nights any more where the most optimal strategy is to d...

Still no luck making a fire.

I've made a fire plough, but it doesn't seem to work anywhere and just slowly destroys itself when I right click anything with them. Any hints on the conditions required?

Re: Getting the first Nether Star is really boring.
I've never actually died from it, triggering it is done manually from the outside. We're playing hardcore so not dying is a bit of a priority. However, I'll go make a copy and run an experimental death for science. Be right back. EDIT: Yep. Got put on the chopping block. http://i.imgur.com/di12Um7.j...

Re: Getting the first Nether Star is really boring.
Sure. The hopper's unpowered, and the only two blocks that move are the chopping block and the stone brick block. There is nothing directly above the saw. The Wither Skeleton drops in through a hole directly above the hopper. Off: http://i.imgur.com/GPyuR64.png On: http://i.imgur.com/uosFHst.png

Getting the first Nether Star is really boring. [SPOILERS]
A friend of mine and I are currently playing a co-operative world, and we've only just come to the point where we have a level 3 Priest who is asking for a Nether Star to level up and start providing Eyes of Ender. Up to this point, everything we do has been pretty engaging, but the update with Hard...

Re: Finding Villages
Alright, thanks for the advice. I managed to find a boat load of Desert temples (I think I've got 5 enchanting tables now haha), 2 Jungle temples and a Witch Hut, so it's not like these adventures aren't coming up with good loot, including a lot of gold bars. My village count is 4 so far, but no pri...

Re: Finding Villages
How far are you tunneling between portals? How far are you walking out from the portal? Boats are pretty fast if you're by the ocean, otherwise you can't really go much faster. (I guess you could set up as a server, and bring a few mates on) I try to broadly hit the middle of the next map, and expl...

Finding Villages
Hi guys, What with the changes to Hardcore Villages and the requirement to find a priest villager to continue on to the End, I've been having trouble finding one. At the moment I have a nether tunnel at the bedrock level, tunnelling in one direction and creating a portal occasionally, and I'm creati...

Re: Portal Problem (Spoilers)
If I understand it correctly, when an infected creature dies for any reason, the infection can then jump to any nearby non-infected creature. In the case of chickens, this is a serious problem because the infection kills them, and it's often really difficult to separate them, so the infection can el...

Re: What's your End-Game Fantasy?
As someone who plays co-op hardcore with a friend, I define the win condition as a full-sized soulforged steel beacon and a complete soulforged steel factory. If we manage that, hardcore gets turned off and we pat ourselves on the back. So far no dice, but we've come close. Died due to accidentally ...

Re: Help with Endermen
What SterlingRed said. I mean, you could have a floating block if you wanted to and omit the fences, but I prefer a bit of form with my function. Fences tend to be the least restrictive way to go about it, and they make the shelter feel more secure if you've got an obvious inner area where you know ...

Re: Help with Endermen
Building 2-high shelters held up by fence posts are the way to go, in my opinion. They physically can't get to you, so you can just chop up their legs.
They're also good for dotting about your base in case you accidentally aggro one and want to hide.

Re: Need Advice
Yup, definitely a basic mob trap (with a vine farm to make the trap) is a good next move. Once you have one going, you can do other things while it spawns all of the iron that you'll ever need, as well as kibble ingredients. It will be like adding an extra player to your game that mines and smelts i...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89PHILLIP)
This is brilliant, well done. One tiny niggle is that it's spelled "venom sac" instead of "venom sack". Other than that, it looks exciting!
