Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

If Microsoft know what they're doing, they'll leave Minecraft to the guys at Mojang. They've purchased a huge player base of kids around 10 yrs old that'll be buying Xbox ones in the next couple of years, not just a game. Fucking it up will just deter future customers

Re: Separate save directory for BTW saves

Ouch, that's rough. You can prevent this in the future by using the new minecraft launcher (get the latest Minecraft.exe from Mojang) and setting up a separate profile for BTW with a different directory. I'm on the new launcher but you need to quit the game and reload before switching worlds. This ...

Separate save directory for BTW saves

I've recently started playing minecraft again, and have been really enjoying better than wolves. Just this morning, I went to check out the snapshot and absent mindedly loaded my BTW world without loading the BTW jar, thus removing all the mod blocks from my world. After 100+ hours of game-play on t...

Re: Smelting Mineshaft Rails

From my understanding, FC very much in favor of persuading the player to explore, both underground and on the surface. The same thing can be said for strongholds; the doors and bars there are a massive bonus to your iron stocks but exploration is required to obtain them.

I was talking about this in the context of vanilla; I had somewhat ruled out the idea of BTW coming to 1.7 in my head

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Portal size doesn't effect balance, it's just aesthetic fluff. The LPers I follow made mention of wanting an odd width portal to fit their builds. Which I can kind of understand, being aesthetic minded as well. The standard 3x2 plus a new 2x3 or 3x3 would have been sufficient. Dinnerbone just ran w...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

After watching Doc's video on the new portals I really think that Mojang have no concern for balance at all. Portals can be up to 23x23 and be placed adjacently. It'd be nice to be able to have a portal that matches the symmetry of other things in your minecraft world but the scale is rather over th...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Fantastic/alien terrain adds a unique touch of eeriness to the world that really sets off that "stranger in a strange land" feel that I think Minecraft has been missing for a long time. This again highlights the temporary nature of 'fresh new' terrain gen. I remember back when the previou...

Illogical biome transitions are another one for me. Where in the world would you find a desert next to a snow covered taiga forest?

Re: [1.5.2] [4.89] Biomes O' Plenty 0.0.7 - BTW Edition

My understanding is that since he uses only vanilla blocks, it shouldn't ruin a save. But if you uninstall the mod it will use vMC gen for any new chucks. Making weird world boundaries. How will the now-absent biomes act, though? Would they fall back to some default like plains or would funkier stu...

Re: [1.5.2] [4.88/4.87] Biomes O' Plenty 0.0.4 - BTW Edition

I have been flying around in creative for about half an hour and I have yet to come upon a village abandoned or otherwise can anyone confirm their existence? I may have just been unlucky. It has been said before in this thread that they will spawn in biomes with flatish terrain. These are evidently...

Just a little question, if you don't mind me asking, how many more biomes from the original mod are left to be added to the BTW version?

Re: Question about challenge relative to other mods

I must disagree as well. Food does not equal a shield. I have come pretty close to dying even after finding a source of easy food. I'd like to point out that I didn't say it was a shield, it's just the most challenging hurdle to jump in BTW. Beyond that point, the tech tree is very much procedural ...

Re: Question about challenge relative to other mods

On the other hand I've heard of a mod called Easy Diamonds....I've heard thats a rather challenging one. There was another one I heard about called redstone tools... On a more serious note, I think that it's hard to compare BTW to most other mods with respects to difficulty as BTW is one of the few...
