Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

The Mindcrack FTB pack runs on version 1.4.7, I checked the Feed The Beast website and no FTB pack runs on versions more recent than 1.5.2. Zisteau mentioned they were running a 1.7 pack. If I was sure I wouldn't have asked ;-) Err, yeah. Fair enough. I suppose I could have worded that better... So...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Is it just me or has Mojang killed modding in general? Are you sure the mods simply aren't released to the public yet? The Mindcrack guys are currently running a rather heavily modded 1.7 server, though I wouldn't be surprised if they're essentially beta-testing it for the modders as the pack they'...

Re: Banished [Shining Rock Software]

And since no trader sold seeds so far I didn't even had a chance to order them. But that is all very early game. I'm at year 14 now, only just got my second type of seed (at fairly immense cost I might add: 2500). So yeah, traders seem to be a bit luck-based. Had tons of traders offering stone at t...

Re: Banished [Shining Rock Software]

Sounds about right. I have only a few hours logged, but the focus is clearly on the survival part. Don't expect to be building any kind of massive sprawling metropolises or complex trading networks. If anything, Banished reminds me a bit of the old Impressions Games citybuilders where you had to con...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)

I don't suppose you're willing to slap some sense into them? Really sad to read this. I was really looking forward to digging into this game once the wipes calmed down, but this is making me fear for the future. I suppose I'll still have fun with the game, but it's always depressing to play a game k...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)

Part of me is really interested, but I've read that characters might end up getting wiped at some point... not really my cup of tea. I like starting over from scratch, but not when it's forced upon me. In all likelihood I'll just wait until a proper release before digging in, though whether or not m...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

Whoop, first time I made it to any other body than Mun. I just finally managed to touch down on Minmus... sort of. Came in ever so slightly too fast and toppled over, but everything was still intact, so it's good enough for me. Turns out I needed a lot less batteries than I put on the probe, probabl...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

I feel like a total idiot when I read some of the other posts here, but I finally managed to figure out how to have the right side of my probes pointing downward during re-entry which means I can at last progress a bit. My Kerbals are now taking their first voyages into low "orbit" and are...

Re: Better Than Starting Manned (Flower's WIP KSP mod )

That's actually a vanilla bug that Squad already knows about. They're saying it will be corrected in .23 I see. I probably should start paying more attention to those things, then. - After a whole lot of seat-of-pants flying, as well as liberal application of duct tape and rabbit feet, I finally ma...

I finally managed to find the time to try this out for a bit and I'm really liking what I see so far and I'm curious to see where the mod'll go next once you have the time. Though granted, while I enjoy KSP immensely I'm pretty bad at it, so I'm not entirely sure what my experience is worth >.> Anyh...

Re: Kerbal Space Program .23 Features announcement

I'd imagine a space program would have their funding cut if all they did was twiddle their thumbs whenever they manage to put a satellite or other vehicle into orbit. It's the job of the engineers and whatnot to get stuff up there, after which a separate entity takes care of processing and interpret...

Re: Minecon and BTW

My apologies if that's how I came across as that wasn't my intent. It's just that I personally don't see why people get so upset over how other people like to spend their free time. I fully agree with you that games are a proper form of entertainment and that is exactly why I feel it's a bit of a &q...

Re: Minecon and BTW

To be fair, if people are having fun with MC in its current form, is there really any harm in that? I mean, there are slightly more important things in the world to be upset about than some people's choice of how to spend their free time. Not like it affects us anyway. Not to mention I'd personally ...

Re: Minecraft, it's kinda like Lego huh?

Dunno, I feel it is slightly ironic that a regular old box of random LEGO pieces is more like Minecraft than these sets are. I mean, you're using a pre-made set with step-for-step instructions to recreate something from a game which is about total freedom to make whatever the damn well you please wi...

God fucking damnit. I am NEVER pre-ordering anything on Steam, ever again. Or even paying full price for anything, really. Fortunately for me, the Civ V expansion is out in a couple of hours. That should keep me away from this dimension long enough to dodge the worst of the storm. I find BTW much more compatible with games like Dungeons of Dredmor, Faster Than Light or even Rogue Legacy. Yeah, I second this. That's more or less the feeling I was getting, and it's something I believe FC and Icy mentioned in their MPLP series. "Permanent rogue-like" I believe they ca...

Re: Question about challenge relative to other mods

Maybe it's my sheer incompetence at gaming in general, but I think a better question would be how BtW compares to other games , not just MC mods. Early game BtW at least has not only been challenging, but also fair , something a lot of games these days seem to be missing. Either everything is a cake...

Ick. Yeah, I think that would kill most of the addictive nature of such games man. It's the difference between a collectable card game and just a card game. Not to mention that it will most likely result in cookie-cutter decks that everyone and their grandmother will copy until people just stop pla...

Re: Scrolls...ok, wtf is going on?

I'm not sure that putting a bunch of designers to work developing Minecraft further would have been a great idea either, because then you'd have had 100 dinnerbones adding in pointless features instead of just a few people. Isn't that pretty much the MC mod scene in a nutshell? I mean, aside from a...
