Re: Unexpected behaviour with gearbox placement
Yeah, that definitely looks like a bug to me. The axle attached to the gearbox has power (powered axle below facing correctly) and even though the gearbox input is facing the right way (input facing down), it isn't distributing power to the attached axle (horizontal). The gearbox adjacent to it has ...

Re: Share Your Epic Fails
Oh, just remembered a significant fail! So, I've built my base near an ocean (this is before i learned about the hat threat) and my plan was to use the ocean water as a way to ensure that my exit would be safe. I built my main door as a tower on the coast where i can pop-out up the top and assess my...

Re: Share Your Epic Fails
snip That is exactly why I switched my inventory key to Q and throwing items to E. E is much harder to accidentally hit (for me) than Q. Plus Q is the default inventory key in blockland which I had played for years before minecraft. Kind of makes me wish that if you pressed "Q" while hold...

Re: Tips for Caving?
I recommend reckless abandon and exploring abandoned mineshafts with a minimal of equipment. This never ends badly. Nor does running into a nearby jungle in the early game to loot a temple :) Yes well, i discovered the problems with this on my third attempt i believe. Trying to fight off a spider w...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)
Its more of an annoyance because they keep making it easier for me to not care about planets, I'd rather have each one really provide more than just being a place for resources. It a bit early to tell the direction they are taking this game, but it just the same thing i did in Terraria. :( was hopi...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)
Recent patch notes: Anyone else pissed at this? You can now turn 10 unrefined wood into coal in the furnace I liked being stuck on a planet because i've used all my coal for Steel bars, damnit stop making it easy! whats the point of a planet if I never am going to be stuck there? This hasn't really...

Re: Re-Discovering BTW after about a year away
I'm disappointed. I was really hoping for a "haha noob", it makes me chuckle silently in my lone cellar every time. But anyway, what server are you playing on? I'm thinking about torturing me with a little competition and the server you mentioned seems fresh. *Sigh*. The other members of ...

Re-Discovering BTW after about a year away
Hello again Fellow BTW'ers. Its been about a year now, been playing other games and other Mods (FTB namely) and i have decided it is time to challenge myself and the others on my server and roll it with BTW. The last i played BTW was before the Hardcore tools was implemented (but was still reading p...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
That kind of makes sense but shouldn't the shock infantry be of a higher ratio than the archers, calvary and sappers in the army arrayed against you? Mojang makes less sense to me every day. I was going to make the same point. More zombies / other mobs makes sense. I would also prefer to see Zombie...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
This "Zombie spawning Zombies" thing is nothing but bad. I still remember the frustrating days of beds where if there was a dark spot too close by, a mob would spawn and attack you and this feels the same. It is inconsistent and is designed to dis-empower the player in an illogical fashion...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
The zombie spawning thing is quite special at the minute I can't even explain how hard I hit my head on my desk seeing that video. Who knows why they thought paratrooper zombies were a good idea. The moment i heard that "Every time they take damage, there is a small chance another Zombie would...

All i want from Tethers is the ability to tether my Powered Minecart to other minecarts. I have wanted a Minecart train since i first put coal into my first powered minecart years ago. I would have preferred this to Powered Rails.

No. nonononono. They naturally 'jump' over 1 block, which enables you to walk up hills

When riding something, like a mob or a boat, dismounting is only possible using the Sneak key now I think thats the best feature in the snapshot, I always start eating in a boat and end up dumped in the sea. This feature i hate most of all. Shift has always been the "Go slow" button. Inst...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Don't starve isn't a 3d game though. To avoid cold you have to basically insulate yourself and/or generate heat. Since MC doesn't have finite liquid model trying to simulate finite liquid in every block of atmosphere as well as heat transfer seems somewhat unlikely. How could you effectively simula...

Seasons: I Don't mind that idea too much, as long as it actually alters the mechanics too. Just some pointless cosmetic feature i think will only serve to annoy people when their pretty castle becomes half covered in snow. I think the only way this could work to make the game more interesting is to ...

Re: Finite8's Modding Adventures
So, for a bit of fun, I decided to see how hard it would be to make some server-only rule adjustments to make the game more challenging and add some more "survival" to SMP. Surprisingly, this was really easy and worked a treat. I adjusted the following: - Health no longer regenerates when ...

Let us know how the lego case goes :) ...you mean, for the peripheral(s)? Or the Pi itself (which already has a case built, in my first image) ? If you mean for the other stuff, I don't know if those even need a case. Maybe a rack of some kind for the breadboard, but that would be about all I'd nee...

Re: Scarier Mobs for my BTW-phobes
Warr and Benanov would be the ones to talk to about server side behavioral mods. They've pulled off some incredible things without ever touching client code and may have further insight into what is and what is not possible. Interesting. Perhaps i will hit them up for some info. I'm pretty sure tho...

Re: Scarier Mobs for my BTW-phobes
From what i can tell, the client-side uses the vectors for prediction (position, direction and velocity). Also any physics seems to be calculated client side too but behavioral changes and setting these values just like the existing code does should be fine. I have just tested the same code and it s...

Re: Scarier Mobs for my BTW-phobes
Hmm... will double check that. I didn't notice any weird behaviour but then again, it was pretty simple at that stage (once i confirmed my proof-of-concept i switched to the client side as debugging the server was a bit painful). There may have been holes in my proof of concept test though... can't ...
