Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
Very interesting quotes above, and I agree with them completely. I've been playing Planet Explorers myself recently and found the exact same things. I read through the article and it reminded me why Minecraft impressed me when i started. Given the recent dark times of MC, i spontaneously felt 3 yea...

Re: Is Plate armor really worth it?
I never realized that the armor wore unevenly because they had different durability. I always figured there was some kind of oddball hidden hit location mechanic going on. Weird. I've seen it in the code, yet i had forgotten all about that. Yea to me SFS armor is something you put in your chest wit...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion
hesitate with shame when I HAVE to tell someone I play "Minecraft" cus they'd have no idea what Better than Wolves is. Yea, for me it's a "well i do hate minecraft but i love a mod for it". People simply don't understand, and i can't even blame them. A minecraft related snippet:...

I feel a certain sense ov déjà vu... Soon there will be a "Better than engineering" out there. Hehe...gods no. Please...please no... I really wish "professional modder" were actually a thing, but barring that, I really need to stop doing this shit :) "OCD sounds so negative...

Re: Space engineer
I just feel like having a reason to build a larger ship to ferry your small craft efficiently between sites and provide a recharging station would add a lot to the sense of progression Hmmm...true that. Might be cool if small reactors didn't even exist and small ships were entirely dependent on lar...

Re: Space engineer
note: at 6KW per panel, you'd need 94 or so to run a refinery. (560Kw vs 6kw per panel) so building a proper-powered solar refinery is madness. well maybe if you just get too many solar panels from raiding ships you can do it, but building it (and that requires platinium - a pain in the ass) is goi...

Re: Space engineer
yea this happened to me the other day. I discovered my refinery ran out of fuel. luckily it has solar panels so i just needed to dump some Ore into the refinery to start everything up again. Similarly, i use it to power a beacon so i never lose my way. Cause one game, i was out pirating when the re...

Re: Space engineer
my idea was to have enough solar to power a refinery so that if I ran out of fuel there is enough to jump start everything on a side note though 6 solars can power an assembler if you don't mind the powering on and off sounds yea this happened to me the other day. I discovered my refinery ran out o...

Re: Space engineer
If I'm understanding the merge block from the video though, should be possible to setup one of these things so that the merged ship winds up hooked up to an ejector on the other one which then spews stuff into a collector on the same ship. Not sure if that would be worthwhile though as at that poin...

Re: Factorio: A game all about automation
So I've bought the game as well, all is well except the fact that I can't find the optimal generation settings for me. I'm looking for something that involves a lot of transporting from one place to another (to use trains), as well as adding extra biters for difficulty. Always when I generate a new...

Re: Factorio: A game all about automation
I find that trains in combination with intelligent arms and boxes provide a better solution to long distance transportation than belts. I have had set up my oil transportation with drones even over long distance because it would have taken two belt lines to each location (for some reason I was only...

Actually here's a couple from my most developed world. Was from a previous release (still haven't tried the latest yet), so things might be a bit funky in relation to how things work now, and I don't have any welders in it: http://i.imgur.com/B3xNDc6.png Ship up top is my grinder. Re: Factorio: A game all about automation
Honestly, it feels like a bit of a let down. I do know I saw something from the dev about the end game being weak and that it needs more work, and if this is what is meant by that, then I would tend to agree :) Aside from unlocking oil and the drones, yea that's all you're getting out of mid-late g...

Re: Factorio: A game all about automation
I'd like to point out that a dozen of laser turrets causes HUGE power spikes... i know, i lost an outpost when i was turret-creeping. I've designed a setup where my solar panels are primaries and my steam engines are my secondaries along with a 1.1GJ capacitor bank (normal drain 10MW). Because of m...

Re: Factorio: A game all about automation
As far as I know the spawners cosume pollution and spawn attackers. So the more your pollution spreads more spawners are going to send biters towards you. Also spawners can be spawned out of nowhere (i don't know what causes it) so you may need to scout the area now and then. I've read somewhere th...

as an indication: Aliens will roughly attack when closer than 1.5 radar dish distances. This means that if aliens are far enough, you probably won't be bothered. This also means that when polluting the aliens may grow a LOT stronger than you anticipate and your countermeasures are inadequate. (note:...

Zoomed out on my base, and thought it looked pretty cool, so thought I'd share :) I think I may be screwed though. I can't figure a way off my island, and without any aliens on it, I can't collect artifacts and thus can't proceed in tech beyond a certain point :\ Holy cow, that's cool. (and yes, yo...
