Are you planting the hemp seeds or just feeding them to chickens?

Honestly, I haven't played much since getting the hoe. I've planted 4 hemp, and got 1 chicken fed in a makeshift coop. (harder to make a chicken hole now, with ladders requiring string. Clever change.

Pumpkin seeds are definitely no longer the best choice as the first sustainable food given they are harder to get. But I still don't think you need to rush food, as hunting can sustain you for a very long time. A fishing pole works too, but both it and purely using chickens are pretty slow and may ...

I'm curious about the first sustainable food source now. Is it best to go for a fishing pole now?

I'm having an extremely hard time finding any spawner rooms (e.g. Pumpkin Seed) due to the new caving mechanics.
