Re: Fire spread seems somewhat unintuitive

This might be spoilery, so... https://i.imgur.com/SiTW0uC.png Fire Spreads in a sort of pill shape upward. To make things simple, a 5x5 column of air extending five spaces above the fire will ensure the campfire doesn't ignite anything else. I recommend placing the campfire on top a non-flammable bl...

I feel like this game is the real "Don't Starve". There are so many ways to sustain yourself in the Klei Entertainment game, but with Better Than Wolves its a more get-your-shit-together affair. Not criticizing; just postulating.

Re: 4.ABCEEEFA Hardcore Respawn Changes

Yeah, I've been hesitating on doing any more videos for those reasons. I knew it was gamey, but I couldn't think of a way to fix it. So I was just like, "Welp, this is part of the game!" All the while the solution was really freaking simple from a conceptual level. This is why this is my f...

Re: Official Better Than Wolves Installation Thread

The json files that the new launcher creates have a different formatting. Makes the instructions hard to relate. I wouldn't mention it if not for my recent inability to get ahold of the old launcher through legitimate means. I believe they are phasing it out. Even the alternative downloads give you ...

Stone Item vs. Stone Block

Prior to the recent changes, Stone generally referred to Smooth Stone. Throwing an item called the same into the mix makes for clunky explanations and unintuitive wiki navigation/maintainance. I'd rather the item version just be called a rock for those reasons. It also has a vague sense of being sma...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)

Have you had good luck in your strip mine? Currently I am thinking about making one, since surface iron is getting low.. Would you recommend it? I have not had much luck with it. I think I hit two pockets total from this one, which used up almost the entirety of my iron axe. I'm saving the rest of ...

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)

I honestly couldn't have explained it better. Gilberreke hit points I hadn't even thought of. I find that even when they do get bumped in they act like they are stuck and won't proceed any farther in. Also, if the protective tunnel is long enough, by daytime you could just travel completely out of t...

Iron Axes Taking Damage in Crafting Grid

I was cutting a bunch of spruce logs in the crafting grid with an iron axe today, and I noticed that it actually takes durability damage. I'm running 4.ABCEEEFAb without any other mods, installed as directed. Double-checking that this is a bug, the last entry regarding this feature: 4.A2 Timing Rode...

Re: Why hampers are a good change

I'm still digging baskets over hampers. You can fit them into one block high gaps, use them as steps, and get contents out quicker. Plus, I just love the non-GUI feel. It's less distracting and easier to use with my game controller setup.

4.ABCEEEFA Hardcore Respawn Changes

You have successfully disincentivized my liberal exploitation of day-one respawns. I was just running and hopping around all the time, getting spiders pissed at me. Now if I try that crap I get my ass handed to me and eventually get the dunce cap of "Starving". Way to go, FlowerChild. *thu...

Bow Deconstruction Gains

Until recently, I had no idea that string would drop along with a shaft when deconstructing bows. String seems way more important now with the early game changes, and it gives people more of a reason to care about skeletons. I wouldn't care if the stick was just abandoned, but I imagine it would aff...

Cobblestone Walls

I'm unable to use loose cobble to make cobblestone walls. I'm not really sure how to craft regular cobblestone outside of maybe silk touch or chisel if that works. But if that's the case, it seems less likely for me to use on walls given the extra steps involved.

Wasn't sure if this should be in the bug reports or if it's just an added feature. I've tried to kill one witch before though, and it's a super nope as it is.

Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki

I just updated the Planks and Shafts pages to be more accurate. There's still work to be done on them like including blood wood, other tools and features. Before I go any further though, please let me know if I'm dropping the ball on something. I'm relatively new to editing wikis, so I'm trying to p...

I appreciate your efforts in that regard. All the recent block changes seem like they should have been that way in vanilla. The dirt mechanics have been particularly rewarding to suss out.

Re: Coal from Creeper Explosions

Nevermind. I just realized how easy it is to lose drops this way (I'm assuming loose drops getting destroyed by the rest of the explosion's effect before it finishes). So that seems like a good risk vs. reward mechanic, especially since it takes some finesse not to get yourself killed trying it.

Until a week ago I didn't even know you could get planks from an iron axe (i hadnt been that far yet) so I already thought chests we're gated behind a saw. Yeah, I thought so too. Saw requires planks though, so I figured early game might require going out to an abandoned village and harvesting (whi...

I haven't figured out how to get planks yet. I assume maybe an iron axe with a log in the crafting grid. I'm really hoping I don't need to get them from an abandoned village. Did you figure out planks, or was it the crafting table?

Please, please please don't remove the category tags from the pages. As well if you're going to pull stuff from a page be sure it's completely irrelevant. Re: [WIKI] A comprehensive guide to editing the BTW wiki
