Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8915)

Thanks man! If you ever have the time and feel inspired to do a write up of your overall experiences after your time away from the mod, I'd love to hear them. I'm getting *very* close indeed now to finalizing BTW's balance so those kind of observations would be of particular value :) If you're worr...

Re: Best biome to settle in. (SPOILERS)

I've skipped a lot of this thread as I'm still working my way through from a new game (in an old world) and haven't discovered everything I missed out on yet but in my opinion, you need to be near water and a high pond is ideal as you can terrace the land below it for a simple farm, then when you re...

Re: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

I played it, it's a good game - really good in fact but not an all time classic in my opinion. It's a beautiful world and it gets really dark in a fairy tale way. Its a good story and the ending is interesting. I know what TB is talking about when he goes on about the game requiring you to play the ...

Re: D&D Adventurers UNITE!

Here's some tips I have picked up: 1) Be flexible - part of your job as a DM is to make the game fun for everyone and in that respect you need to put yourself last. If the players do something which bypasses a part of your adventure which you spent a lot of time and effort on, let them - save your a...

Re: The case for low risk adversity

That article makes an awful lot of sense - it seems obvious to me that kids will seek the same thrills no matter what equipment has been provided and if they can't get it in the playground, how long will it be before they start climbing trees and rigging extra equipment on top of the playground stuf...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Ugh. :( New sliders. Actually, that's not terrible. Remember that there are quite a lot of competing solutions to sound feeding quite a lot of different solutions to play the sound - people using realtek ALC into Audio Technica Studio Monitor headphones will have relatively noisier rain than people...

10 obviously

(and an extra +1 from a personal point of view because it reminds me a little of the lightning wielder from Big Trouble in Little China)

so 11 out of 10.

Re: Laptop is dying, any help appreciated!

And... I'm back - posting from my shiny new PC!!! OK, it's not quite complete yet most notably the graphics card has to go back on an RMA to be replaced - it arrived opened and with loose screws rattling around in the box and did not work at all. Also waiting on the monitor arm so I can mount it in ...

From the creators of SpaceChem... Ironclad Tactics

It's an alternative history steampunk American civil war game and is due out on September 18th. Its a real time card game and I'll be honest, I wouldn't have given it a second glance until I realised who the devs were.

Awesome! I started a set of space hulk tiles using hirst molds, I've lugged a literal ton of dental plaster across three house moves and not yet got my ass in gear to finish! I'm in full publicity mode at the moment, had a month holiday from my day job so I decided to release my game - I'm at differ...

Re: Descent: Journey in the dark. Second Edition

Are the figs from 1st edition the same size as 2nd edition? Never actually saw them, as I have not found a copy yet. No. Some of the monsters will need new bases as they are too small. Without pulling my copies out to check, this list seems complete: 1x2: Hellhound Blood Ape Wendigo 2x2: Bane Spide...

Re: Descent: Journey in the dark. Second Edition

I have been looking for a copy of 1st edition actually. My advice, don't bother, you'll pay a disproportionate amount of money for a broken ruleset that is far to easy to pull cheap, campaign ruining combos. The second edition is an improvement in every way! Mostly I just want the figs and the game...

IMO, going nomad is actually a much more difficult and time consuming way to play the game at start, Cam94509: I love the nomadic way of playing and while through a lot of practice, I find myself developing quicker than I can whilst settled, you really need to see something about the type of player...

I don't think any of the three went anywhere, though all three had big civilizations at one point, that don't exist anymore. Saying they went extinct is like saying the Romans went extinct. It doesn't quite work like that ;). I personally love it when people talk about how England is ruled by the E...

Re: Overclocking, I'll be looking for 4.4 out of the processor and will be paying a little extra to get one guaranteed for 2 years stability from a specialist overclocking retailer at that rate - trust me, if I wasn't going to do that, I wouldn't get the unlocked processor nor such a high end cooler!

I don't know very much about laptops. But, from what I understand once hardware goes bad in a laptop there's nothing you can do about it. As for disabling the dead GPU, you can either disable it through AMDs Catalyst Control Center, or through Window's Hardware Control Panel. It seems this is the c...

Hehe, to be fair, in Mongolia, there is literally a mile where the two border each other and the conifers in Peru don't look anything like the pine/spruce type trees in minecraft, they look a lot more like stumpy cedar of lebanons.
