Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Just noticed that Mojang also added in more poorly-implemented unique sounds for mules, donkeys, zombie horses, and skeleton horses. zombie and skeleton horses now have half-way finished GUIs also (yeah, more useless GUIs).

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

I'm surprised that they don't have a GUI, considering all the things that do. This pretty well illustrates the issue with Mojang these days. They add a GUI to horses but not to furnace minecarts when all they would have to do is reuse the one already existing for furnaces. They ignore previously im...

Re: Redstone hints

Okay, I see far too many errors related to buddy blocks to stay out of this one. It isn't the fault of any of you, it's just that Mojang keeps trying to change what things notify the surrounding blocks of their occurrence and which don't in an attempt to screw up vanilla BUD switches. Please visit m...

Re: Players suspendable from leashes?

The same issue would arise when a creeper converted to a charged creeper, a pig became a pigman, etc. I personally don't think, based on the Minecraft code, that the new entity would stay leashed, but I'm not as informed on this issue as I make myself sound because I don't know how "being attac...

Is this pack still under development? Or are you just on break? I obviously know you are busy in real life and with the LP :), I'm just wondering what the current state of AnimCraft is. I can possibly help, if necessary.

Re: Jungle Balance Observations

One small thing I noticed: The rate of jungle sapling drops has increase quite a bit. Just something you might like to know. That's a vanilla feature, to prevent effective farming of gigantic amounts of wood. Okay, I probably should also mention that the cocoa was ridiculously easy to get at, since...

I really don't see how you guys can turn it off :). I've had it on since the day it was implemented, and it just feels way too artificial without it, which bugs the hell out of me for some reason.

Re: Jungle Balance Observations

I'm really surprised how little attention this thread is getting. I always thought that balance threads attracted hordes of people. Oh well. (I'm probably going to jinx it though.) So, I set out on an expedition to find one of the several jungle biomes I haven't desecrated on my world, which wasn't ...

Torches still sometimes spawning around bonus chests

Extremely minor. I usually don't use bonus chests, but I started a new world to test something I believe and enabled the option just for the laugh at its glorious contents. I spawned in a taiga, and saw my bonus chest a few blocks away. It was on a small ledge, and I opened it to take possession of ...

Re: Players suspendable from leashes?

Yes, you can ride a pig on a leash--people have used this to make pig elevators by hanging pis at different heights and riding them--but, in BTW, snowballs have no knockback, so the swing idea wouldn't work.

Another week, another great update!

Thank you again, FlowerChild, especially for changing jungles and mushroom biomes so that they are no longer total safe havens.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Horses breaking leads which are attached to fences only while the player is riding them isn't very consistent. I like to think that the rope itself is fairly strong and that the player loses their grip when they move too fast. Oops, you're right. I wasn't thinking when I posted that. If that was re...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Looks like Horse Armor is now enchantable, and it is no longer stackable to sixty-four. Also, Mojang appears to be nerfing the interesting behavior of leads/leashes where they would break if they were stretched too far because people wanted to ride horse attached to fence posts, and riding a horse t...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (week of May 27)

I'm really happy to hear that you're enjoying your mod as much as, if not more than, most of your community. As Mikko said, that's something that's really important, and it's something that's commonly missed by many MC mod authors and game designers these days. I know I've personally been pouring a ...

Re: random freezing

I have it set to 1024 MB. It uses about half of it with a new world, and gradually more as i advance through the ages. I'm just gonna write this one off as a hiccup on generation, and just redo the seed. Alright, but I'm still a little curious if this could be another instance of whatever that thin...

Re: random freezing

You could also try REDUCING the amount of memory Minecraft has. You read that right. Reduce. The reason is that if you give it a large amount of memory, parts may get swapped to disk, and this causes major slowdowns. True. But it depends on how much RAM he has. If he has a lot, there isn't a good c...

Re: random freezing

I'll assume that you have the latest version of java and that you didn't have any external programs or mods running that could have caused this, as those are two major causes of similar issues. This particular world wouldn't happen to be Large Biomes, would it? Because a couple of people have recent...

Re: Better Wolves Spoiler thread

I don't think I really elaborated very much last time in my observation post about my first encounter with... it (for the official lack of an official name). When I started anew out in the wilderness, I managed to kill a skeleton in a cave that I holed up in with my single stone axe (and almost died...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Don't know how much of this has already been mentioned, if any, but Mojang is promising to add "various new mobs" to the game in addition to horses, mules, and donkeys. Each of those--horses, donkeys, and mules--has received its own GUI for whatever reason, also. Further, they are in the p...

Re: Better Wolves Spoiler thread

So far my only observation regarding howling is that the wolves are only howling at night. I originally thought that they only howled at the full moon, but I've heard them howl at other times now, too. The one thing that I can't figure out, though, is what is the impact of howling? It's definitely s...

Re: Better Wolves Spoiler thread

Alright, usually I wouldn't post in a spoiler thread because a) I like to test and discover things for myself and b) I have a sneaking suspicion that many of my presumptions about features will be wrong. However, this time I have set up a small outpost base at the meeting point of a forest and taiga...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Unfortunately, though the attribute system itself looks pretty harmless and more just an annoyance, in the process of implementing it, it would seem that Mojang is indirectly and unintentionally affecting numerous values and constants across game. On such unintended consequence of the new system is ...
