Re: how much does chainarmor(mail) weight?
Maybe it's not the weight of the armor alone; possibly chain is more restrictive to your movements making it difficult to swim; and plate is even more restrictive; leather and wool are less restrictive plus they weigh less. At least that's how I rationalize it in my mind.

Re: how many times have you HC spawned?
so i wanted to ask all of you, how many HC spawns have you gone through? at what point do you really begin to cover the majority of the HC spawn perimiter? how long does it take you to recover from a fresh HC spawn? have you ever been tempted to cheat? i just want to know how all of you have been m...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)
milkmandan: What I'm thinking happens, either it's the puppy -> wolf transition which can trigger teleport regardless (or maybe it's only if on a half slab). Or, if you have a spawnable space in your poo factory, mob spawns and pushes them off into the water. Wolf will automatically stand (and tele...

Re: Has Enderman Behavior been changed? [Possible Spoilers]
Got to love that the game-maker jumps right in and tests it in his own world. I'm not sure that's normal customer service for most games; I'm betting that it is not. Also have to laugh that he suffers the same frustrations we do at the hands of his creation. Sorry for taking this off topic, but that...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)
FC said that it was a fairly short distance that would be affected (no more than 30 blocks), so that should be fine. Did your wolves go by your portal ever? They can transfer souls once they've been infected. I'm going with "wolf infection" as the most likely cause then, if someone doesn'...

Re: Hardcore Nether Animals Discussion (Spoilers)
This Topic fascinates me. It does not really explain anything for certain. I just started over with the release before this, "666"? When I got to the point where I was going to make a portal; I carefully read this post and built my portal 60+ blocks away from my wolves and chickens. I brou...

Strategies You Use to Find Your Way Home after HC Spawn?
I die alot. Rarely, I recognize where I spawn and can just hike home. I'm wondering what strategies people are using to help find their way home without having to build a new base and mine down to redstone to make a compass? I have a base and some wheat and cows and a little iron. I'm thinking that ...

Re: D&D Adventurers UNITE!
I started playing D&D back with the original books (yeah, I'm kinda old) and never really adopted all the updates and have had a blast with it. But recently I got turned on to "Dungeon World." It is absolutely awesome. It's D&D without all the tables and confusion, much more role-p...

"Does HC spawn change the way I play?" I lol'd when I read the heading. And my answer is F*&$@K YEAH! Oh my god I hate to die! Get a farm and some iron armor and a creeper walks up behind you while your fighting a spider! Suddenly I'm punching trees again! I restarted (new world) with ...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89)
This update really had a ripple affect on me. Prior to this update, I never even knew you could cook ores in a kiln; guess I spaced on that. Which motivated me to make an auto-kiln. Which required assaulting a nether castle, and more specifically a blaze spawner (for more Hibachis). Which motivated ...

Re: Hilarious fuckups
I'm particularly partial to starting some part of my base on fire everytime I get to the stoked cauldron phase. More recently, I was on my way to enter the nether when I noticed a pigman had escaped into the overwold (my base). Without thinking I dispatched him and headed into the nether. In the net...

Re: Hopper efficiency
So I'm experimenting with setting up hoppers to collect everything that drops (including XP). It seems like every automated mob trap I make ends up with some losses -- items stuck in corners, dragon orbs passing over soul sand hoppers and getting stuck on regular hoppers, etc. Is that pretty much t...

I'm also pretty quiet and probably don't say much to be encouraging, so... I Agree and.. ... Maybe people don't agree with all of FC's decisions, but everything FC does is well thought out, excellent quality, and has the "customer's" best game-play experience at heart. Most of us would hav...

Re: Incredibly useful early-game builds
Trap door drawbridge. O_O That is genius! What would such a thing look like? (English is not my native language.) Make a trench two blocks wide and put one trap door on the far side and one the near side. Close them to cross and open them to secure the base. My trench is only two deep and sometimes...

Re: 4.80 Balance Observation Thread (READ RULES OR BAN)
First, I really like what you are doing with the game. It is much more challenging and that makes it interesting. Just my opinion but this is a big one for me. Since the new changes to hunger, I can't afford to simply run around and explore. Yes I know how to make slabs, stairs and ladders to keep h...

This is what's awesome about BTW. Now I want to fish, I've haven't fished since it first came out in vMC, and then I only fished for about 30 seconds because it was so boring and pointless. (I might have fished more had I known that cat's scare creepers, but I only recently found out about that). No...

It sounds like most people are gathering iron by "caving," while nolaw70 has chosen to "branch mine." I wouldn't criticize him for weighing his options and choosing a strategy just because it's not your own preference, especially if it works. I think this demonstrates "the b...

I've been playing for almost a year and just joined the forum recently. I made a distant nether portal and jumped out naked into the newest update. Considering all the major changes no one seems to have any major issues; most people like it much better than just a couple of updates before. So at the risk of sounding like a twat.... I declare this game balanced! Feel free to tweak to your liking, but people are not describing any major issues. T...

Also a long-time lurker, welcome to the posts. Just go for it. IMO I'd rather see a bunch of short posts instead of one or two long ones (maybe I have ADHD or something), so keep the posts under 300 words and post a couple of screen shots once in a while. If no one reads it, who cares; it's your own...

Re: Share your tips for surviving in Hardcore Hunger
First read Shegji's "How to be a Nomad" post which explains the change in philosophy needed to succeed. Starting with HC hunger required a total shift in philosophy for me. I had to postpone plans to build a stately manor where I sipped tea and munched donuts while my automated farm and du...

Re: HC Hunger findings and balance observations
I love the hunger aspect, like everyone else said, "it adds a new aspect of challenge, and a renewed respect for those damnable skeleton snipers." The only difficulty I had was in finding a village. Without wheat you can't "lead" animals to a pen, and can't breed them. Finding a ...
