As both this and BTW modify world gen, I'm pretty sure the patcher is to allow BoP files to be combined with BTW files so FC's code isn't redistributed.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

There's a slight glimmer of hope for the terrain generation. Jeb recently tweeted this:
Was testing level generator stuff, when @notch asked me to keep this as an option: http://i.imgur.com/DtYeEDO.jpg Really resource heavy, though!

Hope this helps: Link

Edit: Also, the old launcher is still available under the download page on minecraft.net, way at the bottom if you prefer installing the old way.

Did you accidentally copy the MINECRAFT-JAR in your server.jar instead of the MINECRAFT_SERVER-JAR?
I had it happen to me as well, and I made sure I copied the server version over. Same log and everything.

I wouldn't go this far. They've implemented what the community has been screaming for (the part of the community that isn't here with BTW), but that doesn't mean they lack creativity.

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

From what the wiki is saying, the cherry trees will have their leaf color change every four days for a few minutes. Also, it seems that you can now bind your sprint key to a new button. Wiki is also saying there was a rewrite to some of the option screens. Link to wiki page. Edit: Also, it seems the...

If you're going to be playing around with space planes and looking for more parts designed specifically for them, I'd recommend the B9 Aerospace Pack. I've been playing around with it for a bit and have had a lot of fun so far. The pack adds internal cargo bays, VTOL engines, some new cockpits, wing...

Re: Animal Suffocation Bug Info Thread

When this happens to me in SSP it'll happen right when I log on, or rarely when returning from the Nether. Also in SMP, I've noticed it happens when someone gets on the server after a restart, or after a period of time when nobody was on. In both SSP and SMP, I have seen it happen when returning to ...

Wither, I haven't taken on yet, but I imagine that one would be rather nasty with the new heal system. My friend and I have discovered that it's stupidly simple to kill a Wither just by trapping it in enough stone with a single hole in the center to shoot and smack it. We haven't been hit by it yet...

You can only download the current version, as the remainder are set to private after a new one comes out. Time to ask for a server update or to find another server.

Lens Rendering Incorrectly in Inventory

Running BTW 4.69b, placing a lens block in an inventory / crafting grid with no other mod blocks in the same row and then picking up a sub-block causes the lens to assume the same render type as that block. Also, shift-clicking the lens into the hotbar causes it to render as a siding. Tested with si...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

The 1.6 launcher seems to be helpful for players with mods. It allows players the ability to choose which mod they want to play from a drop-down menu in the Minecraft launcher - the player just has to put the modified jar file into its own version folder. It sounds great and all but I'm worried abo...

What's the best low-tech mob farm design? Using the spoiler features of one of the newest updates (which I won't name outside a spoiler thread) and a water channel that feeds to a small killing room for you to punch them to death. Sunlight? You'll still have to handle the creepers, which may be dif...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

If their intent is to tie mod browsing/downloading into the launcher, with an Internal API that won't require you to install anything into the jar files directly, than this move makes some sense. You'd want that framework in place, in the same way you'd want to get all your engine rewriting out of ...

The one thing we still refuse to do though is try to take over the Nether. Out of our last 6-7 trips there, all ended with at least one of us dying. I learned the hard way to watch where I'm running when punching a Ghast to death... Let me just say, losing all the steel we had (in tool form) to a n...
