Now to answer the other half of your question
In respect to Valve's use of Linux for the SteamBox...this is an attempt to MAKE a platform for Linux gaming. Valve has the best DRM'd game distribution system out there. (I would say that the Debian Package Management System is the best non-DRM'd game distribution system out there, but that's my op...

Re: So this is new (Steam Controller)
I never used Linux and im a total noob when it comes to programming and computing. But even though i know Windows is not the most friendly companion for programmers how much better is Linux? Even more important how many software companies are willing switch over to it? Its this little tiny fear of ...

Be sure to turn off OpenGL as well. I've no idea why Mojang included that option. Everyone on the MCF threads have reported better performance with it off other then rare cases Advanced OpenGL is occlusion culling. There are situations where it's easier to figure out that you don't have to render a...

My server was run on a computer I built from scratch, on my home internet connection.
For proper ghetto credentials I should mention I found the case in the trash.

I turned it off when I played Doom, because it was too much - I didn't get sick, but it basically disabled my already really shitty internal navigation for some reason. I like the view bob in real life. I hate it in games.

A lot of minecraft building is based on the fact that you can lean over an edge to place a block on the side of it. This would make that absolutely impossible, especially with the at-times clunky movement of minecraft, especially if any sort of latency is involved between server and client. Deaths ...

Re: Killing a blaze in current version of BTW?
I made a 'suicide run' into a fortress. I had a set of leather armor, a few mushroom omelettes, and about 5 stacks of snowballs. I got 2 blaze rods and had a stack and a half left over. Snowballs are *very* effective against blazes, and are a lot cheaper than bows & arrows. Won't help vs nether ...

You're letting the earthly concept of gender get in the way of your thinking here folks(somewhat of a ninja by The Phoenixian, you're not). What if creepers were some form of highly mobile plant life? Nitre could be something extra they suck out of the soil, or a byproduct of their form of photosyn...

http://i.imgur.com/5l1eGnZ.png This isn't a rant about BTW using ad-sponsored services. This is a rant about ads mocking UI widgets of the client in an attempt to get people to treat it like a real pop-up window. As you can see, this fails miserably on my system. Normal users have no chance to defe...

Couple of thoughts.
I like hardcore bouncing. It exercises the lateral thinking parts of my brain. I do not care for the nerf of stone picks being as strong as it is. I might bump the number of picks you can make by exhausting a stone pick to add one more whole pick. I've played for probably 4-5 hours on the changes, a...

It's fun in a perverse way that the challenge of flatcore-type maps has finally made it to something where I don't have to twiddle with the server. MC is hard enough as is now. :) First note. Slabs can be used in bizarre ways to make yourself safe without torches. This feels especially game-y with p...

Re: JLCustomz BTW Server Ver. [4.69b]
Your server is running out of memory and swapping. The disconnects are periodic, and when they happen they're preceded by lag. This happened to us a lot when I had a Debian server that had a paltry 512MB of RAM. The server would come right back up and only a few changes, if any, were undone. Restart...
